South Gallery Application

This small gallery holds around 12-15 artworks. We are open to 2D, 3D, installation, and video artworks. We use a hanging system so all wall pieces need to be wired across the back. We have pedestals for 3D work. Each show is about 3-4 weeks in duration depending on how it falls on the calendar. All work must be for sale - installation work should have a salable component (prints, ephemera, etc.) CAL's commission is 35% of all sales. If you haven't made the work yet / don't have examples of what you want to exhibit, please attach work that best shows your skill and is closely associated with what you want to exhibit. If you have a time of year you'd prefer to exhibit your work, please state that in your proposal. We may not be able to give you the exact dates, but we will do our best to accommodate your request. We are looking for work that is cohesive and has a point of view. The South Gallery space can be used to work out an idea you have, to show a body of work you've already made or want to make. Deadline for submissions: August 22nd, 2026 Notification of status is the middle of September 2026

You will be notified if you have or have not been selected for a show in 2027 or 2028. Some applicants might be asked to show their work at Central Bank - downtown instead of the South Gallery. It is up to you whether you want to show there or not. We tend to get more applications than we have space for in the South Gallery. This year we are expanding our reservations to 2028 because 2027 already has limited space available.

A small jury will look through all applications and consult with the Director of CAL to make final decisions. You will be contacted by the middle of September.
