VAV Gallery programming is reviewed through a democratic jury process held each semester. The jury is composed of one member of the VAV Gallery Board of Directors, three VAV Gallery coordinators, and one to three student representatives from across the Concordia University community.
In keeping with the VAV Gallery’s commitment to supporting diverse artistic perspectives, the jury welcomes students from all faculties and departments who are interested in contributing their unique experiences, knowledge, and perspectives to the selection process. The gallery recognizes that meaningful engagement with contemporary art extends beyond disciplinary boundaries and values the contributions of students with a range of academic backgrounds and creative interests.
The jury will take place during the week following the application deadline. Selected jury members will be responsible for thoughtfully reviewing each submission, applying scores based on the established evaluation criteria, and providing notes to support discussion and decision-making throughout the selection process. Participation as a jury member is a volunteer position.
For more information about the VAV Gallery’s jury process and selection procedures, please consult the following resource: https://www.vavgallery.ca/jury-process.
Selected jury members will receive a When2Meet scheduling link to determine a suitable meeting time for the jury discussion and review session.
Concordia University students from any faculty or department who are interested in participating as jury members are invited to complete this form. Applicants will be asked to provide their name, pronouns, student ID, and, if applicable, details regarding previous involvement with the VAV Gallery.
Please note that students who have submitted artwork for consideration in the VAV Gallery’s Winter 2026 programming call are not eligible to participate as jury members for the same selection process, in order to maintain transparency, fairness, and avoid conflicts of interest.
