iMpulse Auditions

Must be Jazz Level 7 or higher and 13 years or older to audition

The deadline to turn in the application is August 30, 2026. All students attending auditions are required to complete the application. Students who are not currently part of iMpulse will be charged a $20 audition fee. Any audition application submitted after the above date/time will incur a $10 late fee.

PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT: Each student accepted and enrolled in the company will be charged a monthly company participation fee (see below). Company rehearsals will be scheduled every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Company members will be required to sign a contract confirming their commitment to company policies, including the MSA Student Code of Conduct. They may only miss three regularly scheduled rehearsals without consequence. Company members must make themselves available for all performances and related rehearsals/commitments.

Completion of the company contract, presented upon acceptance, is required to join iMpulse. All iMpulse members are required to be enrolled in at least one jazz class and two ballet classes each week. In addition, members are strongly encouraged to participate in contemporary, hip-hop, and musical theater classes.

Auditions and Acceptance Expectations: Students are expected to demonstrate the highest level of talent, student behavior, and work ethic. Membership within the company cannot be obtained without high-level performance strength across multiple genres that reflect what commercial jazz looks like today, including hip-hop, contemporary, classical technique, music theater, and jazz.

Key Company Experience Dates (not mandatory, but strongly encouraged):

January 28–30: NYC Trip
March 13–14: The Company Project

By joining iMpulse, students and families agree to trust and respect decisions made by leadership and directorship, actively support both iMpulse and MSA, and engage positively with the community through social media, in-person interactions, and collaboration throughout the season.

 

FEES: Students who are not currently iMpulse members will be charged a $20 audition fee (see below).

All audition applications (member and non-member) received after the above date/time will incur a $10 late fee.

Each student who accepts and enrolls with the company will be charged a company participation fee of $ 1,600 for the year, divided into 10 equal monthly installments of $160, payable from September 5, 2026, through June 5, 2027. ($1450 per year if in more than one company).
