Dream Haven Homestead Business PoliciesThank you for choosing Dream Haven Homestead! We are a small, family-operated homestead focused on quality products, honest communication, and exceptional customer service. These policies are intended to ensure a smooth experience for both our customers and our business.By placing a reservation or purchasing from Dream Haven Homestead, you confirm that you have read and agree to these policies.
Chick Reservation Policy
- Reservation Deposits: A one-time $5 non-refundable reservation deposit is required for each reservation (not per chick). Reservations are not confirmed until the deposit is received. The deposit is credited toward the final balance due at pickup. Reservation priority is based on the order in which confirmed deposits are received.
- Hatch Availability: Hatch availability depends on fertility rates, hatch rates, chick health, and seasonal production. If fewer chicks hatch than expected, reservations will be filled in the order deposits were received.
- Communication: Customers must provide accurate contact information and will be contacted when chicks are ready.
- Pickup Scheduling: Chicks should be picked up during the scheduled pickup window whenever possible. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need additional time.
Live Chick Sales Policy
- Health and Well-being: The health and well-being of our birds are our highest priority. Local pickup only for live birds. Most chicks are available beginning at day-old unless otherwise stated in the listing or reservation confirmation. Every chick is inspected before pickup and sold in healthy condition to the best of our knowledge at the time of transfer. After pickup, responsibility transfers to the buyer.
- Customer Responsibilities: Customers are responsible for providing proper brooder temperatures, appropriate feed and clean water, safe housing, predator protection, routine health care, and ongoing husbandry.
- No Guarantees: We do not guarantee future egg production, fertility, breeding ability, temperament, feather color development, or lifespan. Unless specifically advertised as sexed birds, all chicks are sold as unsexed.
- Biosecurity Recommendations: Keep new birds separated from your existing flock for at least 30 days whenever possible. Wash hands after handling birds. Clean and disinfect carriers and equipment. Observe new birds daily for signs of illness before introducing them to your flock.
🥚 Fresh Quail Egg PolicyOur fresh Coturnix quail eggs are collected regularly and handled with care.
RefrigerationFresh eggs should be refrigerated promptly after purchase unless otherwise advised.
StorageFor best quality, consume eggs by the recommended date provided at pickup. Refrigeration helps maintain freshness and quality.
WashingMany eggs retain their natural protective bloom. If eggs are unwashed, we recommend washing them immediately before use rather than before storage. If eggs have been washed before sale, they should remain refrigerated.
Local PickupFresh quail eggs are available for local pickup only.
Food SafetyCustomers are responsible for handling, storing, and preparing eggs safely.
ReturnsDue to food safety regulations, fresh egg sales are final. We cannot accept returns or exchanges on food products.
🥚 Hatching Egg PolicyHatching eggs are produced from carefully selected breeding birds. However, successful hatches depend on many factors beyond our control.
FertilityAlthough we monitor our breeding program closely, fertility naturally varies.
We cannot guarantee that every egg is fertile.
Hatch RatesSuccessful hatch rates depend on many variables, including:
Incubator quality
Temperature stability
Humidity control
Egg handling
Turning schedule
Storage conditions
Incubation experience
For this reason, hatch rates cannot be guaranteed.
Storage Before IncubationFor best results:
Incubate eggs as soon as practical after pickup.
If storage is necessary, keep eggs in a cool location and turn them gently each day until incubation.
CandlingNot all fertile eggs will show obvious development at the same time. Variations in development are normal.
Customer ResponsibilityOnce hatching eggs leave our care, the customer assumes full responsibility for incubation, hatch management, and chick care.
Future ShippingIf hatching eggs are offered for shipping in the future, additional shipping terms will apply. Dream Haven Homestead cannot guarantee hatch success after shipment due to handling during transit and environmental conditions.
