ChangingTIDE: Media Literacy Incubator Estonia

ChangingTIDE is an EU-funded project that aims to address the democratic threat of disinformation. Focusing on young adults (18-30), the project will develop Media Literacy Incubators and Town Hall events in five EU Member States.

Four participants from each Media Literacy Incubator will be selected to participate in the Changemakers Programme in Brussels in October 2026 and March 2027. They will undergo a structured mentorship programme resulting in the creation of awareness-raising campaigns to address disinformation.

Media Literacy Incubator Estonia

Estonian Debating Society and Propastop are the local partners for ChangingTIDE. The Estonian Media Literacy Incubator will be held in University of Tartu University’s Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies on Thursday 27th August.

This all-day event will include:

Training on disinformation, media influence, and counter disinformation policy and practice
An introduction to media literacy and media literacy interventions
A session on propaganda and information attacks

Who should apply?

We are looking for 18–30-year-olds from a range of EU member states (or countries for the CERV programme).

We are especially interested in bringing together young adults with a clear interest in understanding and addressing disinformation, foreign information manipulation and interference, and their wider impact on the security environment. Participants may come from a diverse range of professional, academic, civic, voluntary, media, policy, technology, or community backgrounds, but should share an interest in developing practical responses to information threats.

Participants are expected to contribute actively to discussions on how foreign interference and disinformation affect public trust, democratic resilience, social cohesion, and national and regional security. They will also be invited to develop workshop ideas, campaign concepts, or other practical initiatives aimed at strengthening media literacy, improving societal resilience, and countering hostile information activities.

Changemakers will join a transnational group working on disinformation, co-creating awareness-raising campaigns, receiving mentorship from experts, and attending three in-person events in Brussels and a second national event in Estonia. Are you interested in becoming a Changemaker?
