Camp Nurse Position Description
Thank you for your interest in serving as a Camp Nurse at SMYM Youth Camp! Our Camp Nurses play a vital role in creating a safe, healthy, and life-changing environment for every student, leader, and volunteer. Camp Nurses are responsible for providing basic medical care throughout the week, assessing illnesses and injuries, administering medications according to camp policies and physician instructions, maintaining accurate medical documentation, responding to emergencies, communicating with camp leadership and parents when necessary, and promoting the overall health and well-being of campers and volunteers. This position requires individuals who hold a current, active license that authorizes them to administer medications within their scope of practice. Camp Nurses should be able to work well as part of a team, exercise sound medical judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate Christ-like compassion while caring for others. Please note that serving as a Camp Nurse may involve standing for extended periods, walking throughout the campground, lifting basic medical supplies, and being available to respond to medical needs at various times throughout the day. By completing this application, you are indicating your interest in serving as an SMYM Camp Nurse. Submission of this form does not guarantee placement, and all applicants are subject to review and approval by SMYM leadership.
