The Morini Gallery at the Mass Arts Center is delighted to announce that it is now accepting submissions for its Season Opening Exhibition, AbstractScapes: by Sea, City, Village or Field, September 17, 2026, through November 16, 2026. This exhibition celebrates the many ways artists experience and interpret place, not as a fixed or literal view, but as something felt, remembered, and reimagined. From coastal horizons to dense urban grids, from the intimacy of a village to the openness of the land, we welcome abstract landscapes that capture atmosphere, movement, and connection. We are especially interested in work that dissolves boundaries between environment and emotion, and transcends representation to reveal new visual languages for the spaces we inhabit. Through color, form, texture, and gesture, these works invite viewers to rediscover both familiar and distant landscapes as immersive, personal, and alive.
Artists working in painting, drawing, and mixed media are encouraged to apply. Submissions should demonstrate a strong commitment to abstraction, with a clear connection, however subtle or suggestive, to landscape, environment, or place, including urban and small-town contexts. We are seeking work that is cohesive, thoughtfully composed, and professionally presented, with careful attention to material quality and execution.
All work will be 2D, and should not exceed 36 inches vertically and horizontally including framing! (No photography or sculpture)
