The award is given to a South Carolina-based organization that demonstrates the following:- Champions state policies that support economic opportunities for the poor and human rights for the socially disenfranchised;- Supports or administers programs that grow microbusinesses, affordable housing development, and/or individual/family wealth building among the poor;- Supports efforts to dismantle racism and demonstrates cultural and ethnic diversity in the workplace, community and in broader society;- Through programs and practices, promotes peace and justice in situations that are hostile and prone to violence.
