The MSC Sustainable Seafood Awards recognize and celebrate MSC partner organizations and individuals making a significant contribution toward ensuring the sustainability of our seafood resources.

MSC Changemaker of the Year

This award goes to an individual in the fishing community who catalyzed meaningful change by enabling, advancing or supporting a fishery (fisheries) through the MSC Certification or Improvement Program process in the 2026 calendar year.
Nomination statement
Explain why the nominee deserves the MSC Changemaker of the Year Award. Describe how they demonstrated leadership, courage, and commitment to advancing or supporting a fishery (fisheries) through the MSC Certification or Improvement Programs during the 2026 calendar year.
Nominee biography
Provide a brief overview of the nominee, their role, organization, and connection to the fishery or fisheries.
Description of 2026 achievements
Describe the specific initiatives, activities, or accomplishments undertaken during 2026. Explain the nominee's personal role and leadership in advancing the fishery's sustainability, certification, or improvement efforts.
Statement of impact
Describe the outcomes of the nominee's efforts and how they benefited the fishery/fisheries, participating organizations, harvesters, Indigenous partners, management, or the long-term sustainability of the resource.
Evidence of outcomes
Provide quantitative and qualitative evidence where possible, such as improvements to fishery performance, implementation of management measures, successful completion of Fishery Improvement Program milestones, strengthened stakeholder collaboration, adoption of sustainable fishing practices, improved data collection or monitoring, habitat or bycatch mitigation measures, or other measurable outcomes.
Letters of support (1-3)

Include endorsements from colleagues, community members, partners, fishery representatives/ participants, Indigenous organizations, scientists, managers, clients, assessors, or other partners who can speak directly to the nominee's leadership and impact within the fishery.

MSC Lifetime Achievement Award

This award recognizes an individual for a lifetime commitment to the sustainable wild-caught fishing and seafood movement. Nominees may come from any sector, including fishing, seafood businesses, science, Indigenous leadership, fisheries management, policy, conservation, academia, or community leadership.
Nomination statement
Explain why the nominee is deserving of the MSC Lifetime Achievement Award. Summarize their career and legacy and describe the nominee's most significant and lasting contributions to sustainable wild-caught fishing and/or seafood over the course of their career.
Career biography/CV
Provide an overview of the nominee's career history, leadership positions, and major milestones.
Career timeline
Highlight key achievements, innovations, policy changes, certifications, research, or initiatives throughout the nominee's career. Provide available web links, articles, publications, awards, videos, reports, testimonials, photographs, or other documentation where applicable and available.
Statement of impact
Describe how the nominee has advanced sustainable wild-capture fisheries, seafood, or ocean stewardship and explain why those contributions matter today.
Evidence of outcomes
Provide quantitative and/or qualitative evidence demonstrating impact, such as fisheries improved, policies influenced, scientific contributions, industry adoption, partnerships formed, market transformation, publications, or mentorship. Provide web links, articles, publications, awards, honors or recognitions, videos, reports, testimonials, photographs, or other documentation that illustrates the nominee's impact where applicable and available.
Optional letters of support (2-5)

Include endorsements from respected peers representing different parts of the seafood community, such as industry, academia, NGOs, Indigenous organizations, government, or the fishing sector.
