Roles & Responsibilities
Position Title: Competitive Head Coach - Grassroots
Reports To: Grassroots Manager
Role Overview:
Competitive grassroots Head Coaches will support our rep development program by facilitating sessions within the team of appointment, provide team leadership, implementing and supporting the design of training sessions on a regular basis, contribute to strategic development, and be responsible for team development planning. Grassroots Team Head Coaches are leaders on the field and are responsible for set up, following a session plan, at times, creating a session plan, providing a positive playing experience to all players, developing all players within the age group, and providing feedback to all major stakeholders (players, parents, and the club).
Role Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow a session plan in accordance with Long Term Player Development.
- Lead/coach a group of players within the training environment.
- Conduct field setup and session preparation to ensure that players are developing in accordance to the age group objectives and developmental outcomes.
- Ensure that training structure is in line with Guelph Soccer overarching developmental philosophy, and development objectives.
- Provide on-going feedback to the age group lead towards player progressions to ensure appropriate competition structures are met when discussing training pods and game day rosters.
- Deliver exceptional customer service (including welcoming, conduct and communication) to all participants.
- Ensure on-site safety of participants.
- Work cooperatively with other coaches, club officials, and any other volunteers.
- Attend coach development sessions as scheduled by Guelph Soccer Technical Director and/or Grassroots Manager.
- It is expected that Team Head Coach(es) is/are familiar with the content outlined in their respective age group coach folders.
- Conduct on-going player feedback and parent communication.
- Full certifications are required before the commencement of the season.
- Complete a yearly development plan alongside Guelph Soccer Technical Director and/or Grassroots Manager.
- Other duties as assigned and required by GS Technical Director and/or Grassroots Manager.

Position Title: Assistant Coaches/Supporting Coaches - Grassroots
Reports To: Grassroots Manager
Role Overview:
Competitive Grassroots Assistant Coaches will support our rep development program by assisting in the session progression within team of appointment, contribute to age group observations, and assist in the in-game management towards substitutions, playing time, and any other assistance established by the team head coach.
Role Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow a session plan in accordance with Long Term Player Development.
- Following a session plan as per team head coach established developmental outcomes.
- Assist in the readiness of players within the training environment or matches through warm up and other readiness exercises.
- Lead/coach a group of players or small unit of the team within the training environment.
- Conduct field setup and session preparation to ensure that players are developing in accordance to the age group objectives and developmental outcomes.
- Assist with field setup, tear down, and in game/in session player management.
