  • All pilots who have had an accident within the last 5 years must be cleared by OGC's
    insurer prior to flying OGC gliders. The insurers reply is usually the following day. A
    higher deductible may apply.

    Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    Prior to flying with OGC for the first time all pilots shall read the OGC SOPs which are kept on the club desk with the flight manuals and available on line at www.omarama.com.
    All Pilots who have not been cleared for independent operations by an OGC 'B' Category instructor shall every day be authorized and briefed by an OGC 'B' category instructor. Pilots are not permitted to open canopies or move gliders until they have received a briefing and signed this form. All visiting pilots must undergo a check flight with OGC instructor before flying.

    Permitted pilots must comply with Insurance requirements which are:
    ● GUO briefed and authorized solo pilots (by an OGC instructor)
    ● GOD briefed and authorized solo pilots (by an OGC instructor)
    ● GZS briefed and authorized solo pilots (by an OGC instructor)
    ● GOR briefed and authorized solo pilots (by an OGC instructor)

    Pilots must be affiliated to Gliding New Zealand by being a current member of a New
    Zealand Gliding Club affiliated to Gliding New Zealand.
    A limit of four days per reciprocal member, future flights will require OGC
    membership. Reciprocal flights cannot be booked until the request is circulated to
    club members who have priority.

    General Indemnity Clause

    No hiring pilot shall institute any claim for damages, or any other claim against Gliding New Zealand, Omarama Gliding Club, or any or all of the members of Gliding New Zealand or Omarama Gliding Club, arising from loss or injury sustained as a result of the action of any member or members of the Omarama Gliding Club acting under the jurisdiction of Omarama Gliding Club as a result of negligence of a member of Omarama Gliding Club.

    Insurance Excess

    There is an excess of $5,000 applicable to each and every claim for GUO, GOD, GZS &GOR plus the loss of no claims discount (PCOR) which is currently:

    ● GOD $3,093.50
    ● GZS $3,093.50
    ● GOR $3,093.50

    In the event of the glider being damaged while hired by a permitted pilot they agree to pay up to this amount, plus costs associated with retrieve and getting the glider to an approved repairer (if required), and the glider's subsequent return to Omarama. The hirer undertakes to restore the glider to the same condition as at the start of the hire period. The Temporary visiting pilot would only be responsible for a greater cost if damage caused were due to negligence or oversight resulting in no insurance cover.
    Should non-compliance with any aspect of this agreement, rule, regulation or insurance cover result in a declinature of an insurance claim the Temporary Visiting pilot agrees to meet the full costs of repairs or in the case of the glider being beyond economical repair or be deemed to be a write-off to pay in full the insured value of the glider.

    Wheel Up Landing
    A wheel up landing shall result in a minimum $500 charge being made plus the cost of repairs.

    Damage
    In the event where damage is sustained, the permitted pilot shall be responsible for the costs incurred to repair / restore the glider to the same pre-incident condition up to the point where it becomes in the best interests of both the OGC and the pilot to lodge a claim with the insurer.

    Supplementary Costs
    All supplementary charges such as aero tows, airfield charges, road or aero tow retrieves are to be the responsibility of the Temporary pilot. The Pilot agrees to pay for parachute repacking/repairs/replacement should this be required.

    After You Have Flown
    The aircraft must be returned to the correct hangar slot (or trailer), all rubbish removed from the cockpit, battery(s) removed and put on charge, dirt/bugs cleaned off and canopy cover put on.

  • I agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of the Omarama Gliding Club and to completely follow the directions and requests of the instructor at all times.

    I acknowledge that the Omarama Gliding Club is in no way responsible to me, my dependents, or to any other person for any injury, damage or loss sustained by me or them,or for any damage, injury or loss which may be done to my property while flying with Omarama Gliding Club or while I am on the premises or airfield(s) used by Omarama Gliding Club.

    I agree to pay all charges incurred by me promptly and to clear all outstanding charges before departure.
