• Take the FYTC: Cash Back for TAY Pledge

We Need Your Help Reaching Current and Former Foster Youth who haven't received their $1,189 Foster Youth Tax Credit! Foster youth across California are missing out on money they have earned, and we cannot change that without you. If you have any questions as you complete the form, please contact Carla at fytaxcredit@jbay.org.
  • Join the movement by taking the FYTC: Cash Back for TAY pledge and commit to sharing information with current and former foster youth about filing taxes and claiming the California Foster Youth Tax Credit, California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), and Young Child Tax Credit as well as federal earned income, education, and child tax credits. These are cash back credits that put money into the pockets of California’s foster youth.

By taking the pledge you're agreeing to receive four emails (one per month) from JBAY with specific resources and events aimed at ensuring as many foster youth file between now and October 15th, 2026. You'll share those resources directly with the youth you work with.

In 2026, the Foster Youth Tax Credit provides up to $1,189 for youth who:

    • File their 2025 state tax return
    • Were age 18 through 25 at end of tax year (12/31/25)
    • Were in foster care on or after their 13th birthday
    • Received income between $1-$32,900
    • Lived in CA at least half of 2025

Average tax refunds for current and former foster youth are $1,857!

Learn more here and share these appointment links with TAY to book their appointment for free tax prep today through October 15th! Youth can also use the JBAY Self-Filing Guide to file their taxes and claim the FYTC themselves.
