• BCSC 2026 Fall Scholarship Application

  • Applicant Eligibility and Requirements

    1. Applicant must be assigned to the USAG Bavaria Tower Barracks or Rose Barracks Military Communities, or must be a dependent of sponsor living and working in Graf/Vilseck.
    2. Applicant must be a BCSC member or have a parent/guardian/sponsor/spouse with current membership.
    3. Applicant and sponsor must both possess valid military identification cards.
    4. Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or better based on a 4.0 scale. 
    5. Applicant must have applied to or be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program.
    6. The scholarship application is for high school seniors and continuing education applicants who have already taken or will take college credit courses at an accredited college or university.
    7. Applicants can only be awarded one scholarship per board year. Each board year begins in June and ends the following May.
    8. A copy of transcripts (official preferred), essay, proof of BCSC membership, volunteer record (VMIS certificate or other certified document(s)) and recommendation letter must be uploaded with this application.
    9. Applicants and/or their sponsor(s) must complete a minimum of 10 volunteer hours with BCSC or another approved community organization within the 12 months prior to their application. Volunteer activities should be documented and verified by a supervisor or organizer. Applicants and/or their sponsor(s) must submit a signed form from the supervising organization confirming the completion of the required hours. 

    Conditions of the Scholarship Award

    1. Scholarship awards can be applied toward payment of tuition, books, labratory fees or exam fees.
    2. Scholarship awards will be made payable to the financial office of the chosen institution of higher learning. If payment by the BCSC directly to the accredited institution is not possible, the award will be considered invalid and will be rolled back onto the BCSC Scholarship Fund. ​
    3. The Bavaria Community and Spouses' Club Scholarship Committee reserves the right to deny any application where there is evidence of fraud and/or abuse, incomplete applications, or an inappropriate request of funds based on our mission. The Bavaria Community and Spouses' Club reserves the right to make final decisions on all applications and use of funds.​

  • Essay Requirements

    The essay will be evaluated based on content and clarity. Proper format, grammar, spelling, and punctuation will be considered during the selection process. If you have applied for a BCSC scholarship before, you must submit a new essay.

    Do not use personal identifiers in the essay! Use Times New Roman, font size 12, and double-space line spacing. Include your word count at the end. Example: (445 words). 

    Pick ONE essay topic below and type an essay consisting of 300 - 600 words.

    Essay 1 Option:  

    How have your volunteer or life experiences shaped your career goals, and how will your degree allow you to expand your impact on others?

    Essay 2 Option: 

    How has frequent moving shaped your ability to adapt to unexpected changes and build a sense of community in a new place?

  • Please attach one letter of recommendation from a professional in your field (professor or teacher preferred). Letter of recommendation must be signed, dated, and written within the last 6 months of application submission.

    Note for References: To ensure a fair and unbiased review process, this scholarship uses a blind evaluation. Please address the applicant by name only once at the very top of your letter. Throughout the remainder of the text, do not use any personal identifiers (such as the applicant's name, gender, or specific locations). Instead, please use the gender-neutral pronouns "they," "them," and "their" when referring to the applicant.

    CERTIFICATION LETTER
  • I certify that all information in this application is accurate and the essay is entirely my own effort. If I accept a Bavaria Community Spouses' Club Scholarship (BCSC), I further certify I that by signing this form I concent to the following terms:


    1. Scholarship funds are to be used at a college or university in a degree seeking program during the 2025 school year.


    2. I understand that the scholarship award, when combined with all other scholarships, grants, or any other type of funds that require no repayment, must not exceed the cost of tuition, fees, books, university housing or school meal plans at the accredited college or university for the academic year. These funds cannot be used for the applicant’s miscellaneous personal expenses, including computers or laptops. Any remaining funds must be returned to the BCSC.


    3. I am a responsible citizen in good standing in my school and in the community.


    4. I understand that if the above conditions are violated, the scholarship award funds must be returned to the BCSC Scholarship Fund.


    5. I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the BCSC Scholarship Committee of any change of status (e.g., change of schools, change in address, etc.). Failure to do so may result in the forfeiture of my scholarship award.


    6. I consent to the disclosure of personally identifiable information through the BCSC for purposes of social media, publicity and other advertising and web content. I further agree and authorize the release of photographs and/or videos that may be acquired at the award ceremony to be used for promotional and nonprofit purposes, without compensation or royalties, and without time limitations.


    7. The BCSC Scholarship Chair may release this application with personal identifiers marked out to the Scholarship Committee.


    Privacy Act Statement: Under authority of Title 10, US Code Section 3012, the enclosed personal information will be maintained by the BCSC Scholarship Chair for administrative use and is needed to evaluate the application. Disclosure of information is voluntary: however, failure to disclose all or part of requested information will hinder evaluation of the application.


    Statement of Understanding: I certify that the information supplied in this application is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I understand that I may be disqualified if I have knowingly included false information on this application. I agree to abide by the conditions outlined above and accept as final the decision of the BCSC Scholarship Committee.
