The Whitey Hoenow Cancer Fund was established in January 1984 by Suzanne Hoenow, Whitey’s wife, Business Agent Loyal Simmons, and Peter Lafave in memory of Stephen “Whitey” Hoenow. The fund is to assist active Local 277 members diagnosed with cancer with a one-time donation of $500. Whitey wanted to help active members by offsetting expenses for travel and lost wages and easing the hardship during a difficult time.
