Participation in the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus Dance Team is voluntary and contingent upon adherence to the expectations outlined below. This agreement supplements, and does not replace, the standard AGMC member agreement.

    Artistic Direction
Dance Team members work under the artistic direction of the Artistic Director(s) of the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus and the Dance Director. Artistic decisions related to choreography, staging, casting, movement style, costuming, and performance presentation are at the sole discretion ofthe artistic leadership.

    Rehearsal Commitment
In addition to regular AGMC singing rehearsals, Dance Team members are required to attend additional dance-specific rehearsals as scheduled. These rehearsals are essential to maintaining the quality, safety, and cohesion of the dance ensemble. Dance-only members are required to attend dance-specific rehearsals and attend chorus rehearsals the week before andthe week of tech week.

    Attendance and Participation
Consistent attendance and preparation are required. Absences, late arrivals, or lack of preparedness that negatively affect the quality, safety, or effectiveness of the Dance Team may result in reassignment or removal from the Dance Team, at the discretion of the artistic leadership. Removal from the Dance Team does not affect a member’s standing as a singer with AGMC, provided all other membership requirements are met.

Physical Activity and Assumption of Risk
Dance Team participation involves physical movement, including but not limited to choreography, lifts, floor work, and sustained physical exertion. Members acknowledge that participation involves some inherent risk of injury and voluntarily assume those risks. Members agree to participate at their own risk and to exercise personal judgment regarding their physical limits.

By participating in the Dance Team, members agree to release and hold harmless the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus, its board, staff, artistic leadership, choreographers, consultants, volunteers, and venues from liability for injury, illness, or loss arising from participation, except in cases of gross negligence.

    Health and Safety
Members are responsible for maintaining their own physical readiness and for informing the Dance Director or Artistic Director(s) of any injuries, limitations, or conditions that may affect safe participation. AGMC reserves the right to modify or limit participation if safety concerns arise.

    Professional Conduct
Dance Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, collaborative, and professional manner, contributing to a safe and inclusive rehearsal and performance environment consistent with AGMC’s values and policies.
