  • We've created a 10 question survey to better understand the current transportation experiences and identify gaps in accessible transit across the Columbia Valley for both students and the wider community. Your feedback will help explore opportunities for improved public transportation, including a later bus service between Canal Flats, Invermere, and Edgewater.

    Better transit could make it easier for students to get to after-school jobs, sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities—while also supporting the wider community with more convenient and accessible public transportation.

  • Preface to Question 8: The Columbia Valley Transit System provides transit service between Canal Flats and Invermere, Edgewater and Invermere, and locally within Invermere and the Athalmer Rd area. 

    There are regularly scheduled stops in Canal Flats, Fairmont, Windermere, and Invermere for the Route 31 - South Connector,  stops in Edgewater, Radium, and Invermere  for the Route 32 - North Connector, and stops in Invermere and Athalmer Rd area for the Route 33 – Local Invermere. The Columbia Valley Transit Service operates Monday to Friday (except statutory holidays). Below is an overview of the transit schedule:

  • Wildsight has heard there is a need for later evening service in the Columbia Valley.

    Wildsight is working with the DTSS Climate Action Club on a Transit Pilot Project to trial later evening service. Following the project, Wildsight intends to ask the RDEK Board of Directors to approve making changes to the Columbia Valley Transit System’s schedule to facilitate later evening service. Wildsight’s proposed changes would shift the afternoon transit schedule back approximately 3 hours.  The proposed changes would be cost neutral, meaning there would be no impact on taxes. Wildsight’s Proposed Afternoon Schedule

  • Key changes include:

    • The first Route 31 South Connector (To Canal Flats) trip of the day would depart Invermere 3.5 hours later than it currently does, departing at 3:27 PM instead of 12:07 PM. 

    • The last Route 32 North Connector (To and From Edgewater) trip of the day would depart Invermere 2 hours and 37 minutes later than it currently does, departing at 6:00 PM instead of 3:23 PM.

    • The last Route 31 South Connector (To Canal Flats) trip of the day would depart Invermere 2 hours and 37 minutes later than it currently does, departing at 7:11 PM instead of 4:34 PM. 

    • There would be no service on any route between 12:07 PM and 2:41 PM.
