    Sound the Alarm: Music/Theatre (STA) is an award-winning charitable arts organization based in the Lower Mainland, and dedicated to creating transformative music/theatre experiences that inspire, educate, and connect communities. Through national and provincial professional productions, community partnerships, and innovative artistic initiatives, STA uses the power of the performing arts to foster belonging, spark dialogue, and create meaningful social impact.As we continue to grow and expand our reach, we are seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors as well as our new Development Committee (not needing to be a Board Director to join) and help guide the organization into its next chapter.

      

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    We are seeking 3 to 4 board members and 4 to 5 development committee members who prodimenantly live anywhere within BC (we will consider 1 or 2 outside of BC), who are enthusiastic about the arts, community development, and nonprofit leadership. Individuals with expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:

     

    For both the Board and Committee:

    Fund Development & Philanthropy

    • Fundraising strategy
    • Donor cultivation and stewardship
    • Corporate sponsorships
    • Grant development
    • Capital and major gift campaigns

    Community Outreach & Relations

    • Building partnerships with community organizations
    • Stakeholder engagement
    • Advocacy and relationship-building
    • Expanding community impact and accessibility

    Financial Strategy & Governance

    • Financial planning and oversight
    • Risk management
    • Accounting, finance, or investment expertise
    • Strategic organizational growth

     

    Board only:

    Public Relations & Communications

    • Media relations
    • Strategic communications
    • Brand positioning
    • Public speaking and community representation

    Marketing & Audience Development

    • Marketing strategy
    • Digital marketing and social media
    • Audience growth and engagement
    • Campaign development

    Performing Arts & Creative Leadership

    • Professional artists, performers, directors, educators, and arts leaders
    • Individuals with lived experience in theatre, music, dance, or other performing arts
      disciplines
    • Champions for artistic excellence and innovation

     

    WHAT WE ASK OF BOARD MEMBERS
    Board members serve as ambassadors, advocates, and strategic leaders for Sound the Alarm.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Attending regular board meetings, we aim for one 90 minute meeting per month.
    • Participating on committees and special projects (rare, and only if a committee is not formed separately)
    • Supporting fundraising and community engagement efforts
    • Contributing professional expertise and strategic guidance
    • Promoting, and advocating for, the mission and values of STA within the community
