Hidden City Fest is hosting a community short film screening on Saturday August 22nd that will highlight films exploring NYC’s communities, everyday life, and people's relationships with the spaces they live in. Documentary, comedy, narrative, music video, video essay, and all genres are welcome.
There will be a casual discussion afterward, where viewers and participating filmmakers can share what resonated with them and connect through the stories. The event encourages people to reflect on different perspectives of community and place.
Submissions should be shorter than 15 minutes in length and ideally produced in the past 6 years, however, archival projects or films from other eras of New York City that are relevant to our modern history are encouraged.
Entries must be submitted by 11:59PM on Friday July 24th.
No films containing generative AI will be accepted for this festival.
Hidden City Fest is a multi-disciplinary, grassroots festival happening entirely at DIY venues over two weekends in late August. The festival will be activist-focused, organized in collaboration with local advocacy groups. Our goal is to reshape the underground arts scene in New York to be more sustainable, community-based, and artist-friendly, hopefully inspiring a slew of more DIY & house shows to come.
