ABOUT US:
The Mountain & Valley Wool Association (MAVWA) was founded in 1983
Historically, its mission has been to promote fiber from all fiber bearing animals—especially those in Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as other natural fibers—and to pass on the rich history of fiber arts-related crafts to the next generation of fiber enthusiasts.
Previously known as the 'Taos Wool Festival' since the early 1990s, the Festival briefly moved to Santa Fe, NM
In recent years the mission has been expanded to specifically include the Navajo Nation geographical area, and to welcome those working in other non-animal natural fibers. With that expansion came the renaming of the festival to 'The Mountain & Valley Fiber Arts Festival' in 2025.
We're excited to be in our new home, in Durango, CO.
If you can help spread the word about the Festival on social media, to friends and family, and to your associates, it will help us all make the Festival a super event! Thank you.
