  • School-Parent Compact 2026-2027

  • Title I, Part A - Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

    ACCEL Academy and the parents/guardians of students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) agree that this School-Parent Compact outlines how parents, students, and school staff will share responsibility for improving student academic achievement. Together, we will build and strengthen a partnership that helps every child meet Alabama's challenging academic standards.

  • School Responsibilities

  • ACCEL Academy will:
  • I. Provide High-Quality Instruction

  • a. Provide a high-quality, evidence-based curriculum and instruction in a supportive, effective learning environment that enables students to meet state academic achievement standards.
  • b. Use meaningful assessments and targeted interventions to address areas of academic need.
  • c. Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
  • d. Integrate enriching activities, when feasible, to make learning enjoyable and meaningful.
  • e. Enforce school and classroom expectations fairly, consistently, and respectfully.
  • II. Communicate Student Progress

  • a. Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed in relation to each student's academic progress.
  • b. Invite all families to attend the annual Open House in August.
  • c. Schedule additional conferences at the request of parents, teachers, counselors, or administrators to discuss student progress and review this compact.
  • d. Provide regular progress reports, including:
    1. Mid-quarter progress reports
    2. Quarterly report cards
  • e. Provide daily online access to student grades and attendance through PowerSchool.
  • III. Build Strong Family Partnerships

  • a. Provide parents with reasonable access to teachers, counselors, and administrators through scheduled conferences and appointments.
  • b. Encourage meaningful parent involvement through workshops, volunteer opportunities, and participation in school events at times convenient for families.
  • c. Maintain regular, two-way communication between school staff and families using phone calls, emails, conferences, and other communication methods in a language families can understand.
  • d. Offer parent and family engagement activities throughout the school year.
  • Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

  • As the parent, I will:

    I. Share responsibility for improving my child's academic achievement and meeting Alabama's academic standards.

    a. Ensure my child attends school regularly and arrives on time.
    b. Monitor and stay informed about my child's academic progress.
    c. Support school policies and expectations.
    d. Communicate daily with my child about my child about school activities and learning.
    e. Take an active role in my child's education.
    f. Encourage positive and productive use of extracurricular time.
    g. Sign and return school forms, notices, and other communications promptly.
    h. Ensure my child is aware of and utilizes available school resources, including counseling services and after-school tutoring (PALS), when appropriate.
    i. Encourage my child to resolve conflicts respectfully and peacefully while utilizing school resources when needed.
    j. Demonstrate respect for teachers, staff, administrators, and the school community in all communications, including any social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

  • Student Responsibilities

  • As a student, I will:
    I. Share responsibility for improving my academic achievement and meeting Alabama's academic standards. Believing in my ability to learn and maintaining a growth mindset.


    a. Participate actively in classroom learning by asking questions, completing assignments, and collaborating with others.
    b. Follow the school's dress code and code of conduct.
    c. Attend school regularly and arrive on time.
    d. Complete assignments on time and give my best effort.
    e. Show respect for myself, my classmates, teachers, staff, and all adults.
    f. Come to school prepared with the materials and tools needed for learning.
    g. Utilize available school resources, including counseling services and after-school tutoring (PALS), when needed.
    h. Resolve conflicts respectfully and peacefully.
    i. Report concerns or behaviors that may disrupt the learning environment or threaten school safety.
