2027 Season Production Team Application – Musical Theatre Southwest
Thank you for applying to be part of the creative teams for Little Night Music (April), Urinetown (July), and Ride the Cyclone (October), and She Loves Me (November/December). Venue flexibility is needed for the musical productions as they may be performed in a proscenium theatre. The production team will be notified by the Executive Director or Artistic Director once venue is confirmed. Additionally, any creative team recommendations presented will be taken into consideration, however, the hiring authority is the MTS Executive Team. If your proposal is accepted, MTS will produce the musical. This includes, but is not limited to, paying royalties, acquiring scripts, providing publicity and facilities, staffing the box office, and providing a show budget. Thank you for applying and we look forward to learning more about you. ***NOTE: You must complete this questionnaire. Submitting paper proposals and attachments only will automatically disqualify you.***

Why do you want to direct, music direct or choreograph this show at MTS? (Be specific)
*
What is your overall vision for the show? For Directors, please consider music, choreography, set design, lighting, costuming, sound, props, and any additional creative elements you hope to incorporate, along with anything else you’d like us to know about your artistic approach. For Music Directors, please speak to your musical interpretation of the score, vocal style, ensemble balance, instrumentation, rehearsal process, and any specific musical choices or challenges you may anticipate. For Choreographers, please describe the style or types of movement you envision for the production (e.g., light, moderate, or heavy movement), as well as any thematic or storytelling elements connected to the choreography.
*
Musical Theatre Southwest has established a standard rehearsal structure in which the first two weeks are dedicated to music rehearsals, followed by blocking and choreography, with several musical check-ins with the Artistic Director. For Directors and Choreographers specifically, please describe how you plan and organize your blocking and choreography schedule. We are interested in understanding your approach to sequencing rehearsals, managing cast needs, and coordinating movement and staging within this established structure.
What draws you to musical theatre and to working with MTS?

Why should MTS select you to part of the production team?

I understand that this application does not guarantee a position and that final production team selections are at the discretion of Musical Theatre Southwest.
I understand these productions can be moved from MTS Blackbox to a proscenium-style theatre.
I understand if MTS receives early-access rights to a musical production from a licensing company, the production I submit for may be moved to 2028.
