• BKCM Youth Orchestras Application

  • This form allows you to apply for BKCM's two Youth String Orchestras. These programs are open to both current BKCM Suzuki and Community Music School students, and first-time applicants who have not previously enrolled at BKCM.

    We offer two Youth Orchestras for ages 7-18:

    • String Ensemble | 28 Weeks | Tuesdays 4:30 - 5:30 PM | Led by Ben Bregman
    • String Orchestra | 28 Weeks | Tuesdays 5:30 - 6:30 PM | Led by Luis Mercado

    BKCM String Ensemble is a beginner orchestra open to all, perfect for students who have never been in a multi-part ensemble before. For Suzuki students, this is for students in Suzuki late book 1 through Suzuki mid book 3 with beginner reading skills (End of I Can Read Music, book 1 or equivalent).

    BKCM String Orchestra is our intermediate orchestra. This class is appropriate for students with intermediate reading skills who have at least one year of playing experience in a multi-instrument ensemble previously. For Suzuki Students: this is appropriate for students in Suzuki mid-book 3 or higher. 

    2026-2027 Tuition:

    Youth Orchestra enrollment runs on an annual basis, from September-June. Annual Tuition for 2026-27 will be $1,204. Students enrolled in private lessons at BKCM for 2026-27 receive 50% off this tuition price.

    All students (new and returning) should fill out the form below to apply, and are required to submit a brief video audition as part of the form. Instructions for the audition video are included in the form below.

    Using any smartphone device, please record a video of the applicant playing: (1) a scale of their choice and (2) a well-learned piece. In some cases, we may contact you to schedule an in-person sight-reading audition.

  • Financial Aid may be available for students in need who qualify. Requests for financial aid are on a first come first serve basis. We encourage you to apply early if financial aid is required.
