Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) and Artweek have the right to reject any entries that do not meet these terms and conditions. The decision of the Exhibition Committee on any matter is final.
Art Entries: Original artworks in any medium are invited. Artworks must be the sole work of the artist, recent and shall not have been shown previously in either Darfield Artweek or Te Huanui Gallery in Darfield. All MUST BE FOR SALE. NO WET PAINTINGS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Conditions of Sale: All entries must be for sale and will stay on display for the duration of the exhibition, except for pieces sold on the last Sunday of the exhibition, this day will be a cash and carry day allowing purchasers to leave with their purchases.
Categories: There are four categories for artwork:
Hung Artwork: Up to two entries per artist, Diptych and Triptych count as 1 piece.
Three-dimensional & other works: Up to three entries per artist, pieces must be able to be moved by one person. Maximum weight 30kg. Please enquire if in doubt.
Miniatures: Up to four entries per artist.
Jewellery: A Maximum of five pieces per artist (all jewellery will be displayed in MCAC cases).
Maximum size of artwork: Hung Artworks must be no greater than 90cm wide x 150cm high, including frame. Diptych and Triptych are to be delivered on a backing board ready to be hung, the mounted area must meet this limit.
Miniatures maximum image/piece size of 10cm x10cm or combinations for example 8cm x 12cm or 7cm x 13cm
Frames are not to exceed 24cm x 24cm or combinations as for the image sizes. If works are presented in the form of a diptych or triptych the frames must be no bigger than 24cm x 50cm.
Prints and Photographs must be numbered as being in a series.
Commission: 30% (including GST) of the stated selling price will be deducted from all sales.
Entry Fees: $30 first item, maximum fee $40 per category (GST inclusive), refunds will not be made. Payment by electronic banking is preferred. Bank Account No: 38 9012 0684674 05, Reference: Artweek entry + your full name.
Entry Details: Online Entry is located at www.malvernarts.org.nz/artweek. Entries close: Wednesday 30 September 2026. All entries must be complete with full details of artworks, entries with details TBC (or similar) will not be accepted, changes to artwork details may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Delivery of Artworks: In person directly to Darfield Recreation Centre, Darfield between 2pm and 7pm on Wednesday, 7 October. All packaging must be removed on delivery. Please return with it on collection.

Freight: Couriered works will only be accepted if suitably crated or packaged. They should be boxed in rigid, reusable packaging with the return address of the sender clearly marked as this packaging will be used for the return of works. MCAC / Artweek will not be responsible for works of art damaged in transit. Prepaid return COURIER POST tickets in a self-addressed envelope (to be returned if works are sold) are to be included. Freighted works must be received by Monday 6 October and consigned to: Artweek Entry, c/- Meg Morten, 29 Churchlea Place, Darfield, 7510. Meg’s contact number is 021-189-6596.
Collection of Artworks: All work must be collected either on Sunday, 18 October between 4.30 and 6.30 pm OR Monday, 19 October between 9am and 10am or have return freight prepaid. Collection of artworks will NOT be allowed during the exhibition. Work will not be released until 4.30pm, Sunday 18 October. The last day of the exhibition (Sunday 18 October) will be treated as a ‘cash n carry’ day, allowing purchasers to take their purchased pieces with them. We will do our best to contact you prior to collection time if all your pieces sell.
Insurance: While every care will be taken, MCAC and its members do not accept any liability for any loss or damage. Insurance during transit and at the exhibition is the sole responsibility of the artist.
Display: All artworks must be dry and suitably presented for display. Hung work must be completed with D rings and cord or wire. Diptych and Triptych are to be delivered mounted on a solid background, ready to be hung. Please NO eyelets or protruding fittings. Any specific instructions regarding display should be attached to the artwork. Hanging is the sole responsibility of the Artweek committee. No work shall be moved by anyone other than Artweek Committee members.
Labelling: All hung works require a label on a long string to be attached. The string must be long enough to allow the label to hang past the edge of the frame during the hanging and cataloguing process. The label will be tucked behind the artwork during the show. Details to be included on the label are name, phone number of exhibitor, title, medium, and selling price. The same labels need to be securely attached to any non-hung pieces; labels will then be tucked underneath during the show. Jewellery is to be labelled with swing tags attached.
Selection: The Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) reserves the right to select entries. Non-compliance of conditions will result in rejection of work. The decision of the Artweek Committee is final.
Youth Section:
There will be two age categories,
- 8 to 12 years old at the time of Artweek
- 13 to 18 years old at the time of Artweek
The entry fee will be $10 for the first item and a maximum fee of $15 per category.
Artworks from previous year of NCEA assessment are welcome, all pieces must be for sale and available for collection by purchasers at the end of Artweek.

2026 Art Awards:
Premier Award of $2,000
A range of other significant awards will be confirmed on the website later.

Award Winners: All exhibits will be judged prior to the opening, and, where possible, award winners will be notified so they may attend the opening night for presentation of the award. The Judge’s decision will be final. MCAC reserves the right to photograph and reproduce illustrations of selected works for publicity relating to the exhibition.

Saturday 10 October to Sunday 18 October: Exhibition open 10 am – 4 pm (entry gold coin or Eftpos appreciated), late nights Wednesday and Friday 16 October open until 7 pm.
Sunday 18 October: Collection of work from Darfield Recreation Centre, Darfield, between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm OR Monday 19 October: between 9 am and 10 am.
