    Humboldt County students can help choose the winners of the California Young Reader Medal!

  • What is CA Young Reader Medal?

    • The California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) is a statewide book award where students read nominated books and vote for their favorite.
    • HERC Library provides the books and voting materials to Humboldt County classes.
    • Teachers read the nominees aloud, and students vote for their favorite.
    • Voting closes April 1, 2027; the winner is announced May 1, 2027.
    • A fun statewide program that celebrates reading and gives students a voice.

    The following programs have a scheduled, 6-7 week checkout period for each book. It includes 3 books total, with a set schedule spanning from September 2026 to March 2027, excluding holiday breaks:
