  • Ever since I was a little kid, I have always loved science. I used to spend hours in my backyard looking at bugs under a plastic magnifying glass and turning over rocks. I was always asking my parents 'why?' about everything in nature. This early curiosity is what made me decide that I want to major in Biology on the pre-med track so I can become a doctor and help people. In high school, I took AP Biology and it was my favorite class. We did a really cool lab where we genotyped plants, and it made me realize how amazing genetics are. I worked really hard, got an A, and scored a 5 on the exam. This proved to me that I have what it takes to succeed in your difficult science program. Your university is the perfect place for me to continue this journey. You have top-tier laboratory facilities and world-class professors. I hope to conduct undergraduate research and join the Pre-Med Society.

  • I really like helping people and doing different things. Since Grade 9, I have been helping my school's science club almost every week. Later I became the vice president, where I helped organize science fairs, planned meetings, and guided younger students during experiments. I also volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturdays for almost a year, welcoming patients, moving files, helping nurses with simple tasks, and training new volunteers. Besides that, I founded a small tutoring group for Grade 9 students because many of them struggled with mathematics. Every Friday after school I taught about 15 students with two of my friends, and many of them improved their exam scores. Sometimes I also participated in regional science competitions with my school, but my main responsibilities were the science club, tutoring, and volunteering.
