• Single Day of Service Interest Form

  • Seasonal opportunities are available for businesses, organizations, and service groups to volunteer together for a day of meaningful impact.

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • Please note if you are a teacher:

The Single Day of Service program is intended for organized adult groups, post secondary groups, and organized high school service groups (such as ROTC, Beta Club, Key Club, or similar groups).

If you are a teacher interested in visiting the zoo with a class or participating in a zoo-led educational program, please visit www.nczoo.org/visit/school-trips or www.nczoo.org/education/schools for more information.

  • To provide the best experience, projects at the North Carolina Zoo are designed for groups of 15 participants or fewer each day.

While we occasionally have projects that can accommodate larger groups, these opportunities are limited. A Volunteer Services Coordinator will be in touch soon to let you know if any suitable projects are currently available for your group size if you listed a number above 15.

  • If we are able to accomodate a group over 15, are you willing to split into two smaller groups and work on separate projects at the same time?
  • Current Project Descriptions

Projects needs change regularly an includes opportunities susch as such as hiking trail maintenance, mulching, papier-mâché, animal enrichment projects, cleaning signage, painting, and special events.

Projects are assigned on an as-needed basis and may change frequently throughout the year based on the needs of Zoo staff, giving your group a variety of ways to make a meaningful impact each time you volunteer!

    Here's what is needed now:

  • HIKING TRAIL MAINTENANCE (5-15 Participants)

Project dates available: September-May, Wednesdays only, 9 am to noon

Get your hands dirty and help keep our trails adventure-ready! You’ll clear brush, haul debris, and tackle erosion alongside your team. This is an energetic, outdoorsy project best for groups of 5–15 who enjoy moving, sweating, and working together. Expect uneven terrain, all kinds of weather, and lots of satisfying, hands-on fun.

  • Please list every date that could work for your group. The more options you provide, the easier it is for us to find a project that fits your schedule!

Please note, Hiking Trail Maintenance occurs only on Wednesdays.
