Parent/Student Bus Rider Agreement

A copy of the bus rider rules and regulations from the Fort Stockton Independent School District has been available to me and my child, and I have read and fully understood them. By acknowledging that I have received the BUS RIDER SAFETY HANDBOOK, that serious or continued violation of these rules and regulations will result in the suspension of bus riding privileges for a selected number of days or permanent suspension as determined by the school principal.

Students who choose to not follow the bus driver's rules and/or the expectations listed in the Bus Rider Agreement while riding the bus may be assigned consequences by the student's campus administrator. The consequence will be left at the campus administrator's discretion.

This agreement is effective for the current school year, or the student is no longer an eligible bus student. This form must be completed before the student can ride the bus.

Modification or exception to the disciplinary steps will be agreed upon by both the school principal and transportation director.

We (students, parents/guardians) acknowledge the importance of ensuring safety on the bus by understanding that students must wear them properly.
We (students, parents/guardians) agree to follow all the rules and procedures in the FSISD Bus Rider Safety Handbook, the FSISD Student Code of Conduct, and the campus Student Handbook, and understand the consequences for not meeting these expectations.
We (students, parents/guardians) acknowledge that completing this bus form does not guarantee your child's seat on the bus. Our transportation department aims to accommodate all eligible riders, but bus seating availability and driver shortages may result in your child being placed on a waiting list.
We (students, parents/guardians) understand that students placed in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) at Butz for violations of the Student Code of Conduct, including the use or possession of tobacco products, cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or any associated parts (vapes), are not eligible for school transportation services.
We (students, parents/guardians) understand that a bus driver may refer a student to the principal’s office to maintain effective discipline on the bus. The principal may employ additional discipline management techniques, including restricting or revoking a student’s bus riding privileges. To ensure safe transportation, the driver must focus on driving and not be distracted by student misbehavior. Therefore, if disciplinary techniques do not improve behavior or specific misconduct requires immediate removal, the principal may restrict or revoke a student’s transportation privileges according to the law.
We (students, parents/guardians) understand that a student placed in a DAEP will not be provided transportation unless they are a student with a disability entitled to transportation according to their IEP or Section 504 plan.

We, the students and parents/guardians, acknowledge that if we have any questions or concerns regarding transportation, we must contact the bus barn and speak to the Transportation Director or the principal of the school my child attends.
We, the students and parents/guardians, acknowledge and understand the new device law prohibiting the use of any personal communication devices during the school day, which includes the bus ride to school and back home. Students are not allowed to use an electronic device while riding the bus.
