• Petition to terminate the ‘RECYCLED WATER DISCHARGE AND USE AGREEMENT’ between Eagle Sewer District and Farmer’s Union Ditch Company, Ltd.

  • In October 2024, Eagle Sewer District and Farmer’s Union Ditch arranged to discharge Class A recycled wastewater into the Farmer’s Union Canal. The Farmer’s Union Ditch supplies irrigation water to thousands of residents, landowners, agricultural users, parks, schools, and businesses throughout Eagle, Star, and Boise. Many downstream users were unaware and not provided an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process. We, affected ground and surface water users and property owners in the affected area, are concerned that treated wastewater contains a complex mixture of chemical compounds, including PFAS, pharmaceuticals, endocrine-disrupting compounds, and other contaminants whose long-term effects on soil, crops, groundwater recharge, ecosystems, and human health remain the subject of ongoing scientific study. This was undertaken without consent from the residents that use the water to irrigate land, home gardens, yards, parks, and schools.
