• Driver License Renewals

  • Driver License Renewal appointments are available on the first Tuesday of each month from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Meeting Room at the Freeman Public Library, located at 322 S. Main St., Freeman, SD. Appointments are required.

    Before You Schedule Your Appointment:

    Written and Driving Tests: If you need to take a written or driving test, please contact a local Driver License Station to schedule an appointment. These tests are not available at the Freeman Public Library.

    Non-U.S. Citizens: If you are not a U.S. citizen, your driver's license cannot be renewed at the library, even if you currently have a South Dakota driver's license. You must renew at a Driver License Station each time.

    CDL and Out-of-State License Renewals: If you are renewing a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or an out-of-state driver's license, please let us know when scheduling your appointment. These appointments must be scheduled before 5:00 PM. If your CDL requires a Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card), please bring it with you so we can make a photocopy.

  • What to Bring:

    1.Please bring two pieces of mail, each dated within the last six months, showing your name and current address. If you use a P.O. Box, one piece of mail may display only the P.O. Box. At least one piece of mail must show your physical (street) address.

    2. Regular Drivers Licenses are $38. CDLs are $43 Please bring cash or check only. We are unable to process any type of cards.

     

    Social Security Number: You do not need to bring your Social Security card, but you will need to know your Social Security number to complete your application. If you do not have your Social Security number memorized, please bring your card with you.
