The Academy of Administrators in Academic Emergency Medicine (AAAEM) Executive Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2027-2028 academic year. The term of service commences at the 2027 AACEM/AAAEM Annual Retreat in March 2027.

Please note that only full, active AAAEM members, are eligible to serve on the AAAEM Executive Committee.

The Academy of Diversity & Inclusion in Emergency Medicine (ADIEM) Executive Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2027–2028 academic year. Terms of service will begin at the SAEM Annual Meeting in May 2027.

SAEM Election Campaigning Guidelines

To promote a fair, respectful, and equitable election process, all candidates are expected to adhere to the following campaigning guidelines.

Candidate Information
- Candidates will be asked to submit a candidate statement and other requested materials by the established deadline. These materials may be shared with SAEM members through official Society communication channels.
- SAEM will provide equitable opportunities for all candidates by distributing candidate information through official SAEM communications, including the SAEM Weekly e-newsletter and other designated election resources.
Campaign Communications
- Candidates may not distribute campaign communications to SAEM committees, academies, interest groups, or other official SAEM groups that promote their candidacy, qualifications, or reasons they should be elected. This prohibition includes communications through connected.saem.org and other official SAEM communication platforms.
- Candidates are strongly discouraged from sending unsolicited campaign emails to SAEM members.
- Candidates may not use mailing lists obtained through SAEM, affiliated organizations, or other professional societies for campaign purposes unless expressly authorized by the list owner and consistent with that organization's policies.
- Candidates may not use official SAEM communication channels, branding, or resources in a manner that suggests endorsement by the Society.
Social Media and Digital Communications
- Candidates may share factual information about their candidacy through their personal or institutional communication channels, including professional social media accounts, provided such communications remain respectful, accurate, and consistent with these guidelines.
- Candidates and their supporters may not tag or otherwise use official SAEM social media accounts, official SAEM groups, Board members, staff, committees, academies, interest groups, or Society communication platforms in campaign-related posts in a manner that implies endorsement or solicits official amplification.
- Campaign communications should not misrepresent SAEM positions, election procedures, or the qualifications of any candidate.
Endorsements
- Current members of the SAEM Board of Directors and SAEM staff must remain neutral throughout the election process and may not campaign for, endorse, or create the appearance of endorsing any candidate.
- SAEM committees, academies, interest groups, and other official organizational entities may not endorse or campaign on behalf of any candidate.
- Individual SAEM members, colleagues, mentors, and friends may express personal support for candidates in their individual capacities, provided they do not imply they are speaking on behalf of SAEM or any official SAEM entity.
Professional Conduct
- Candidates and their supporters are encouraged to engage in respectful, collegial conversations regarding a candidate's qualifications and potential contributions to SAEM.
- Candidates and their supporters must not engage in coercive, harassing, or intimidating conduct, nor make false, misleading, or disparaging statements about other candidates.
- Campaigning should reflect SAEM's values of professionalism, integrity, respect, and inclusion.
SAEM Meetings and Events
- Campaigning is not permitted (e.g., campaign speeches, group solicitation, or distribution of materials) during SAEM-sponsored meetings, regional meetings, educational programs, or other official Society events unless explicitly authorized by SAEM as part of an official election activity.
- Candidates should avoid activities that could disrupt educational programming or create unequal campaign opportunities.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Candidates may use AI-assisted tools to help draft or edit campaign materials, provided the content accurately reflects the candidate's own qualifications, experience, and views.
- Candidates remain solely responsible for the accuracy, originality, and professionalism of all campaign communications.
Questions and Compliance

Candidates are expected to comply with these guidelines throughout the election period. Questions regarding appropriate campaign activities should be directed to the SAEM Executive Office before engaging in the activity. Alleged violations may be reviewed in accordance with SAEM election policies, and appropriate action may be taken to preserve the integrity and fairness of the election process.

SAEM Officers, Board Members, Editors-in-Chief, Deputy Editors, Committee Chairs, Task Force Chairs, Academy Executive Committee Members, Foundation Board of Trustees, and others acting on behalf of SAEM and the SAEM Foundation have a duty to the Society and its members, including the duties of loyalty, diligence, and confidentiality.
