Members are expected to respect others, shared spaces, property, privacy, confidentiality, and TechPlace policies. Harassment, discrimination, aggressive behaviour, misuse of technology, illegal activities, and other conduct that compromises the safety or professional environment of the community are not permitted.

Unacceptable behaviour
TechPlace is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and professional environment for all members, visitors, and staff. The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:
Aggression and violence
• Loud verbal assaults directed at TechPlace members, visitors, or staff, deemed aggressive or intimidating, or intended to incite violence.
• Threats or attempts to intimidate others.
• Throwing objects in a deliberate or aggressive manner.
• Physical striking of another individual.
• Attempts to goad or incite violence in others.
Harassment and discrimination
• Racial, ethnic, gender-based, or other discriminatory slurs or actions.
• Harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment, whether verbal, physical, or digital.
Property damage
• Vandalism or intentional damage to the building or property owned by TechPlace.
Substance use
• Illegal consumption of alcohol or drugs on the premises.
• Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while at TechPlace.
Inappropriate content
• Viewing, producing, or exhibiting lewd, illegal, or offensive materials in any format.
• Sending or receiving documents, websites, or pages containing lewd, illegal, or offensive materials using TechPlace's internet or devices.
Technology misuse
• Hacking or unauthorized access to systems, networks, or accounts.
• Sending or creating viruses, worms, or invasive computer programs.
• Invading or attempting to invade another person's privacy.
• Illegal downloading or copying of software, data, or other intellectual property.
Disruption of the work environment
• Excessive noise or behaviour that disrupts the ability of others to work.
• Failure to use designated spaces (e.g. private offices, meeting rooms) for long calls, video calls or loud activities.
Cleanliness and shared spaces
• Leaving shared spaces, such as the kitchen or meeting rooms, in disarray after use.
• Failing to properly dispose of trash or clean up after oneself.
Unauthorized activities
• Running businesses that violate laws, regulations, or community standards.
• Unauthorized guests or visitors outside of business hours.
Safety violations
• Tampering with safety equipment, including fire alarms or extinguishers.
• Ignoring emergency procedures or evacuation plans.
Consequences
Individuals engaging in any of the behaviours outlined above may face immediate ejection from the premises. Additional measures may include:
• Suspension of membership.
• Permanent removal from TechPlace in cases of repeat or severe violations.
• Legal action if applicable.
Additional guidelines for members
• Privacy and confidentiality — respect the privacy and confidentiality of other members and their businesses. Unauthorized access to private offices is strictly prohibited.
• Shared resources — use shared resources such as meeting rooms and supplies responsibly to ensure fair availability for all members.
• Emergency preparedness — familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and exit routes.
• Community contributions — members are encouraged to contribute to the shared community environment, such as the lunchroom supplies fund.
Acknowledgment
All members and their employees must read, understand, and comply with this policy. By signing your membership agreement, you agree to abide by the TechPlace Zero Tolerance Policy and its terms.
