• Lakefront Commons Registration

Program dates: August 11th to May 27 • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45AM to 2:45PM (closed for major holidays)
  • About the Program

  • Lakefront Commons is a small-group academic coaching and educational enrichment program for students in grades 6–12. Designed for homeschoolers and other independent learners, the program provides a structured, supportive environment where students receive guidance, accountability, and individualized academic support while completing their own curriculum.

Rather than replacing a student's curriculum, Lakefront Commons helps students build the executive functioning and study skills needed for long-term success. Throughout the day, students receive academic coaching, goal setting, time management support, organization strategies, and encouragement as they work toward greater independence and confidence.

Learning extends beyond the classroom through supervised walks, community exploration, and real-world experiences in historic downtown Kissimmee. Students have opportunities to develop communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and life skills while connecting with peers in a positive, inclusive environment.

Each quarter, students participate in special enrichment experiences led by guest instructors and community partners. Topics may include financial literacy, coding, career exploration, creative arts, public speaking, health and wellness, entrepreneurship, and other hands-on learning opportunities that support the development of well-rounded, capable young adults.

Third Thursday is Community Lunch Day! Once each month, students enjoy lunch at a local downtown restaurant, provided by Three Pillars Learning Group, while practicing communication skills, social etiquette, and meaningful conversation in a real-world setting.

With a maximum enrollment of just six students, Lakefront Commons offers individualized attention, meaningful relationships, and a welcoming community where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally.

Guest instructors, schedules, activities, and community experiences are subject to change based on availability. Equivalent opportunities may be substituted when necessary.

  • About the Instructor

  • Lakefront Commons is led by Michelle Gonzalez, founder of Three Pillars Learning Group and a certified secondary English educator with more than 15 years of experience teaching and supporting middle and high school students in both traditional classrooms and virtual learning environments.

Throughout her career, Michelle has taught students across a wide range of academic levels, including remedial, standard, honors, and credit recovery courses. She has extensive experience helping struggling learners build confidence while also challenging advanced students to reach their full potential.

In addition to classroom instruction, Michelle has served in instructional leadership roles, including creating a Literacy Support Team to improve student achievement and collaborating with school leaders to use benchmark and assessment data to develop targeted interventions and schoolwide academic initiatives.

Michelle is certified in Secondary English, holds a 120-hour TESOL certification, and maintains current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.

Her passion is helping students become confident, independent learners. Rather than simply helping students complete assignments, Michelle teaches the executive functioning and academic habits that lead to long-term success—including organization, time management, study strategies, self-advocacy, communication, and critical thinking.

Michelle has worked successfully with students from diverse educational backgrounds, including public school, virtual school, homeschool, English language learners, and neurodiverse learners, meeting each student where they are while helping them achieve meaningful academic growth.

She believes education extends beyond textbooks. Through personalized academic coaching and meaningful community experiences, Lakefront Commons empowers students to develop the confidence, independence, and real-world skills they need to succeed in high school, college, careers, and life.
