LOGISTICS BLAST DRAFT: SEND TO ATTENDEES 24H AHEAD OF HIKE
Hi all!
So excited to see you all TOMORROW, [DATE], for a lovely day of hiking!
I'm [LEAD GUIDE], I’ll be your guide tomorrow along with [GUIDE 2]! We're so excited to meet you all and help you have a wonderful morning outside of the city.
Weather: [INSERT EXPECTATIONS: Tomorrow is looking mostly cloudy with a high around 79°F. We can expect to encounter some rain, so please pack rain gear or an extra layer. There’s a lot of tree coverage throughout the hike, so hopefully we stay dry!]
About the Hike: [INSERT TRAIL DIFFICULTY: The Glenclyffe Loop to Sugarloaf Hill is 5.3 miles with 823 ft of elevation gain — a beautiful, manageable route with Hudson River views. Expect some rocky and rooted terrain, so proper footwear matters!]
ITINERARY (paste from Luma description)
8:30am: Meet @ Grand Central Terminal in the center info booth to catch the 8:56am Metro North train #8811. Please don't be late – we cannot wait for anyone who misses the train!
[INSERT WHAT YOU'RE WEARING: I will have an orange headband on.]
10:12am: Arrive at Garrison Station and start hiking the Glenclyffe Loop to Sugarloaf Hill
NOTE: There are no bathrooms at the Garrison Station. The bathroom on the train will be the last one before the hike.
[INSERT POST HIKE LUNCH PLAN: There are also no restaurants within walking distance of the Garrison station. If you want to head back after the hike I recommend packing a lunch.]
2:50pm: Head to Cold Spring Station the 2:59pm train back to Grand Central. Trains run roughly every 60 minutes if you'd prefer to head back earlier or later.
WHAT TO BRING
- [IF RAINING:] Rain gear – it'll be warm, but we expect a drizzle. I recommend wearing quick dry athletic clothes
- Trail shoes or hiking boots (rocky terrain — sneakers not recommended)
- NO cotton socks — wool or synthetic only to avoid blisters
- Water (at least 1.5–2L) & Snacks
- Sunscreen & Hat
- Bug spray
BUDDY SYSTEM & PACING GROUPS
We'll have approximately 30 people on this hike! For safety, please buddy up on the train so no one gets left behind.
We'll also loosely split into three groups – fast, medium, and slow – so everyone can hike at their own comfortable pace.
