About the Residency options:
Fringe Residency
This residency offers three months of free studio rent on-site at Nexus Arts Gallery from December 2026 until February 2027. We provide the resident artist with a materials allowance of $500, access to our workshop of tools, an artist income of $2,500, funding for 8 hours of facilitated mentoring from a mentor of their choosing, and professional development opportunities. It's expected that the artist will self manage their time to produce a new body of works during the residency, resulting in a solo exhibition for Fringe Festival (March 2027). Nexus Arts will cover all costs associated with gallery install, marketing materials, Fringe registration, professional documentation, opening event, and a public program.
SALA Residency
This residency offers three months of free studio rent on-site at Nexus Arts Gallery from May 2027 until July 2027. We provide the resident artist with a materials allowance of $500, access to our workshop of tools, an artist income of $2,500, funding for 8 hours of facilitated mentoring from a mentor of their choosing, and professional development opportunities. It's expected that the artist will self manage their time to produce a new body of works during the residency, resulting in a solo exhibition for SALA Festival (August 2027). Nexus Arts will cover all costs associated with gallery install, marketing materials, SALA registration, professional documentation, opening event, and a public program.
Research & Development Residency
This residency offers three months of free studio rent on-site at Nexus Arts Gallery from September 2027 until November 2027. We provide the resident artist with a materials allowance of $500, access to our workshop of tools, an artist income of $2,500, funding for 12 hours of facilitated mentoring from a mentor of their choosing, and professional development opportunities. It's expected that the artist will self manage their time to research and develop their practice, resulting in a public program or activation on site. Nexus Arts will cover costs associated with marketing materials, professional documentation, and contribute to the public program outcome (eg speaker fees, materials, etc)
