• Students- Please look this over with your parents/guardians before completing this form. BOTH students and parents/guardians will need to sign off on different sections. I would reccomend completing this on a computer rather than a phone if possible.

Students and Parents: Please plan to attend our mandatory informational parent meeting on Monday, August 17th at 6:30pm in the auditorium.

To save you time, before you start filling this out, please do the following:

    • Have a headshot or recent photo that clearly shows your face uploaded and ready to attach to the form.
    • Review the potential rehearsal calendar as a family, and have a list of known conflicts ready to go: LINKED HERE
  • Information about the show, including links to character breakdowns, audition materials, FAQs and important dates can all be found on the JCHS Theatre Website: LINKED HERE.

    Initial Audition Dates: August 11-12

Open Callbacks: Monday, August 17th • After School •   3:45pm-6pm

Everyone auditioning should plan to attend. This session allows us to see different actor pairings and explore casting possibilities.

Parent Meeting: Monday, August 17th • 6:30pm in the Auditorium

All students who plan to participate in the production (cast or crew) should attend this mandatory meeting with a parent or guardian.

Role-Specific Callbacks (if Needed): Tuesday, August 18th • After School •  3:45-no later than 7pm.

Please keep this time available in case additional callbacks are needed for specific roles.

    Production Fee
Students who accept a role in Puffs will be assessed a $200 production fee. This fee helps offset expenses that are not covered by school funding, including production materials, costumes, scripts, rehearsal supplies, competition expenses, and other costs associated with mounting a high-quality production.

The production fee is due after the cast list is posted and a student has officially accepted their role. Additional payment information and deadlines will be provided at that time.

We never want finances to prevent a student from participating in theatre. If paying the production fee would create a financial hardship for your family, please contact the director confidentially. Scholarships and payment arrangements are available, and all requests will be handled with discretion.

  • I think understudies are essential for both the rehearsal process and safety of the production. However, in educational theatre, it is also a chance to learn and grow as a performer. Understudies are expected to attend all rehearsals for the role they are understudying and are responsible for knowing the full track of that role. Understudies would also have an additional role in the full cast. Would you be willing to be an understudy (in addition to your other assigned part(s)?*

  • STUDENTS AND PARENTS-  Please work together to give us a thorough conflict list.

  • Please review the calendar as a family and make a complete list of any conflicts with the proposed rehearsal schedule. Calender LINKED HERE.

    Include

    • family events
    • school events
    • vacations
    • medical
      appointments
    • recurring activites (dance, sports, lessons, etc.) that would require arriving
      late or leaving early

Only conflicts listed on your Audition Contract will be considered excused. Any rehearsal missed for a conflict that was not listed will be considered unexcused. Frequent unexcused absences may result in reassignment of a role or removal from the production.

This conflict list will be used during casting. Please be as accurate and complete as possible.

  • PARENT Committee Needs and Expectations

PARENTS: It truly takes a village to create a production. This one in particular has a lot of quirky set and technical requirements as it is set in a magic school. Parents of students participating in our production are expected to give 15-20 hours of time to help get our production onto the stage and to the competition. We have a variety of committees and areas in which we need your help. PREFERENCES INDICATED BELOW WILL BE USED TO ASSIGN COMMITTEE ROLES. If you are planning to take our "opt-out fee" option, you can indicate that as well.
  • PARENTS: Out of the following committees, which would be your FIRST choice for volunteering?*
  • PARENTS: Out of the following committees, which would be your SECOND choice for volunteering?*
  • PARENTS: Would you be interested in co-chairing one of the committees listed above?*
  • PARENTS-  In order to participate as a volunteer, you will need to complete the parent volunteer protocol found on this website. This is a Fulton County requirement for parents assisting in our schools.  Please complete this volunteer protocol as soon as you can so we can have a successful production.

PARENTS- We understand that giving 15-20 hours of your time for a committee might not be possible for all families. Knowing this, we are offering an "unable to volunteer at this time" fee of $150 so that we can hire people to complete the tasks we need or purchase the resources.

PARENTS- If you have any questions about volunteering or know of an area in which you can help, please email Kate Arthur at arthurk@fultonschools.org.

  • PARENTS AND STUDENTS- Please read this section below carefully before signing below. By signing, you are indicating that you understand the commitment required to participate in the show.

  • I (student) understand that every role in a production is important. If I am offered a role, I will accept it graciously and approach it with energy, professionalism, and a positive attitude. I understand that casting is a complex process in which every decision affects many others. My role is assigned as part of the overall needs of the production, and casting decisions are final.

We (student and parent) understand that all students cast in Puffs are members of the production. Participation in the GHSA One Act competition cast is a separate casting decision based on the needs of the competition production.

I (student) understand that roles, tracks, understudy assignments, and performance responsibilities may change during the rehearsal process if necessary for the success of the production.

I (student) understand that, if I am cast, it is my responsibility to attend every rehearsal for the scenes in which my character appears. I will arrive on time and prepared with my script, a pencil, and appropriate rehearsal clothing.

I (student) understand that it is my responsibility to learn my blocking, lines, music (if applicable), and assigned track(s) by the deadlines established by the director. I understand that this requires rehearsal and preparation outside of scheduled rehearsals.

I (student) will contribute to a positive rehearsal environment by treating fellow cast and crew members with respect. I will not criticize, compare, or publicly comment on casting decisions or another student's role or performance. Feedback is the responsibility of the director. This expectation applies both in person and in all digital communication, including social media.

I (student) understand that it is my responsibility to be attentive, cooperative, and respectful during rehearsals and performances. If my behavior repeatedly disrupts the rehearsal process, I understand that the directors will follow the behavior procedures established by JCHS and Fulton County Schools and may involve school administrators when appropriate. Continued misconduct may result in reassignment of my role or dismissal from the production, including forfeiture of any applicable production fees.

We (student and parent) have carefully reviewed the production calendar and understand the rehearsal and performance commitments for both the fall production and the GHSA One Act Competition. The conflicts submitted with this audition contract are complete and accurate. We understand that conflicts submitted after casting may not be accommodated. Unexcused absences may result in reassignment of a role or dismissal from the production, including forfeiture of any applicable production fees.

We (student and parent) understand that it is my responsibility (and my parent's responsibility) to regularly check email, the rehearsal calendar, and all official JCHS Theatre communication platforms for schedule updates and important information.

I (parent) understand that each family is expected to support the production by serving on at least one Parent Committee. If I am unable to fulfill this commitment, I understand that I may instead pay the "opt-out fee" of $150 to the JCHS Theatre Department to help cover production need costs.

We (parent and student) understand that students who accept a role in the production are responsible for the $200 production fee.

I (parent) understand that at least one parent or guardian is expected to attend the required Parent Meeting on Monday, August 17, at 6:30 p.m.
