  • HELLBILLY HALLOW AUDITION GUIDELINES

    1. Be prepared. Thoroughly research the audition requirements provided and prepare with material to fulfill those requirements. Study the Audition Notice to understand the specific requirements for the position for which you intend to audition. Never tell those casting the haunt you've come to the audition unprepared. Also, provide them with exactly what they request.

    2. Know your schedule. Don't come to an audition without a clear knowledge of your availability. If significant conflicts exist, be prepared to list them for the information of those casting the haunt.

    3. Know the type of haunt actor you want to audition for.

Jump Scare Actor: These are the most common actors in a haunt. They wait in tight hiding spots and rely on sudden lunges and loud vocalizations when a group passes.

The Stalker / Intimidating Actor: Often playing hulking villains (like a masked butcher), these actors move slowly, use intimidating body language, and loom directly over guests to build tension without lunging.

Distraction / Tease Actors: These performers are positioned in plain sight to draw the guests' attention forward. While the crowd stares at the distraction, a hidden actor gets a perfect angle to strike from behind.

Improv / Dialogue Actors: Instead of just screaming, these actors interact directly with the guests. They might play crazed scientists, creepy children, or mad butchers, using scripted or improvised dialogue to disorient or mock the crowd.

Town Square Actors: Operating outside the main attraction, these actors entertain guests in our town square.

    4. Provide detailed information about yourself. When possible, supply the Director with a resume of past experience as well as a recent head shot. If you have no headshot available, you should provide a recent photograph. Be sure the contact information you provide is accurate and legible.

    5. Bring your own materials. Do not expect the haunt to provide the materials you are using to audition. You should bring your own props and que cards (if needed).

    6. Be polite. Be courteous to those for whom you are auditioning as well as to other performers at the audition.

    7. Dress appropriately. Even an audition needs a costume. Be familiar with what is expected at the audition so that you may dress to suit what will be asked of you.

    8. Do not assume. An invitation to audition is not an indication of pre-casting. In fact, Hellbilly Hallow only pre-casts in very rare situations, and when we do, it is done before the audition. Being invited to audition will never mean the role is yours before the audition at Hellbilly Hallow.

    9. Plan to attend the entire Call Back. Should the Director invite you to the Call Back, plan to attend the session for as long as your presence is required. Our Directors require seeing many different things from those auditioning before they arrive at their casting decisions. Plan to give them everything they need to see.

    10. Listen carefully at the audition. Details about the timing of casting decisions, trainings, and so on are often given verbally at the Call Back audition. Always listen carefully for these details while at the Call Back.

    11. Don't get discouraged. You may not get cast,  Don't be discouraged - just mark it down as a learning experience and move on. There will always be next year.

    AUDITION CREDO

This is a list of principles Hellbilly Hallow will adhere to in regards to all auditioning and casting activities. This includes all Producers, Directors, Assistant Directors, or anyone else involved in the haunt.

    1. Hellbilly Hallow casts from open auditions. First consideration for roles will be given to those who choose to audition for the haunt.

    2. In the event that Hellbilly Hallow Directors elect to pre-cast a role, notice will be given before the audition.

    3. Hellbilly Hallow will always cast those they feel will best suit a specific role in the haunt.

    4. Hellbilly Hallow will never allow favoritism to be shown at an audition. Every audition will begin from a level playing field.

    5. Hellbilly Hallow will always strive to make the audition process open and polite. Every auditioner will be shown appreciation for their willingness to audition.

    6. Hellbilly Hallow will always present a prepared audition process. Auditioners' time will always be a consideration.

    7. Hellbilly Hallow will strive to provide timely notification throughout the casting process. All auditioners will be notified as soon as possible regarding casting decisions.

  • VIDEO AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

    Time - 2 - 4 minutes

Please do not wear costumes and be sure to film in a will lit area.

The following should be in your video - do the best you can and good luck!

    1. The Slate: State your name, height, and availability clearly at the very beginning. Briefly tell us why you want to join Hellbilly Hallow.

    2. Full-Body Shot: A slow, 360-degree turn with your arms extended to show your body type and movement range.

    3. The Scares: Record 1 to 2 distinct scares. Show a mix of a terrifying scream, a menacing laugh, and a "creep-out" movement (like unnatural crawling or a sudden lunge).

    4. Improv/Side: Demonstrate a quick 30-second improv acting out a common haunt trope (e.g., a creeping stalker or a frantic possessed person).
