Assalaamu’alaikum, HSGC is pleased to open registration for the 2026-2027 school year.
Mission and Ethos
Our mission at HSGC is to facilitate opportunities for our children to become God-conscious citizens of the world and grow through socialization, enrichment, play, academics, and exploration. Our co-op seeks to foster a healthy learning environment where families come together to nurture a love of learning.

Our Wednesday program requires a parent or authorized adult on-site during all classes. As a co-op, we value the support and dedication of our parents who bring a wholesome and nurturing learning environment.

Volunteer sign-up for assisting with teaching, monitoring children while outside, set up, lunch duty, and clean up will be arranged at the beginning of the year, and if other volunteer needs of the co-op arise thorughout the year we will be in communication with the families. We expect all families to assist with these responsibilities to help our co-op run smoothly and at a low cost.
Wednesday Enrichment Overview
Our enrichment classes meet once a week on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and are parent-led as part of our cooperative learning community. We charge a small annual fee to help support the operation of our co-op. Class subjects are selected by parents and approved by the board to provide a well-rounded educational experience for our students.

Each age group is supported by a team of 2–4 parents who work together to develop an overview of what they plan to teach throughout the academic year. Each team is given a budget to purchase curriculum, lesson plans, or unit studies and shares the responsibility of teaching by rotating instructors. Our enrichment sessions are theme-based and may include math, science, language arts, art, Islamic studies, and/or Arabic. Lessons are drawn from purchased or parent-created curricula, unit studies, and lesson plans. Depending on the goals of each teaching team, a session may run for the full school year, one term, or a 3–6 week unit.

Classes and teacher schedules will be decided once parents have enrolled their children.

Start Date

Our first day of classes for the 2026–2027 school year will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Class Groups

We offer classes for the following age groups. The overlap in ages for class groups allows parents to use their discretion in deciding which age group would be the best fit for their child.

Pre-K: Ages 3–6
Group 1: Ages 6–9
Group 2: Ages 9–12
Group 3: Ages 12–15

Field trips and Special Events

Our co-op goes on field trips once a month, usually on the last Wednesday of each month. Around Ramadan and Eid time we also host potlucks for all of the co-op members and their families to attend.

We host different fairs such as art, science, geography, spelling, etc. The field trip schedule and fairs are decided at the beginning of the year depending on the interests of the families. Members are welcome to join committees to work on planning field trips and special events.
Application Process
We are excited to welcome new families to our co-op! Because space is limited, we are not able to accommodate every interested family at this time.

Once you submit the registration form below, your application will be reviewed by our Board. As part of our enrollment process, new families may be invited to participate in an interview or family meeting to help ensure that new families are a good fit for our co-op’s values, expectations, and community environment.

Please check your email periodically, as a board member will reach out with an update regarding your application. You will be notified whether your family has been offered a spot for the fall session or placed on our official waitlist if openings are not currently available.

Photography and Directory Releases

The Photography and Directory Releases govern the use of photographic imagery, and contact information at Co-op.
Family Responsibilities

I (or an authorized adult) acknowledge I will be responsible for my child inside the ICNA Center for the duration of the program. I (or an authorized adult) acknowledge I may have additional volunteering responsibilities at the co-op such as assisting with set up, lunch duty and clean up. As well as volunteering for field trips, science fair, art fair, ICNA's Helping Hands initiative and fundraising. A sign-up sheet will be circulated after registration.
Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement

The Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement section provides evidence of knowledge of inherent risks, voluntary participation, and assumption of inherent risks involved with participating in the Co-op activities. All members must sign this agreement.
Homeschool Co-op of Greater Chicago Field Trip Guidelines

Field trips are generally motivating for students, bring a vividness or reality you cannot bring with conventional lessons, and provide information for learning in a relevant real world context. The guidelines provided here give the expectations and instructions for successful field trips.
HSGC Board reserves the right to deny membership to anyone for any reason. We also reserve the right to expel members at any time.
Photography Release

By registering with The Home School Co-op of Greater Chicago, I give the co-op permission to use photographs of my child, children, or myself on their website or in their printed materials both of which are available to the general public. I understand that neither my children’s names nor my name will be used on the website or in printed materials and that if I do not wish for photos of my family to be used, I will place the co-op on notice in writing asking that my family not be included in such photos.
