Congratulations! 🎉 I will be conducting your formal observation this year. Please let me know which lesson you would like me to observe and select your preferred date and time from the calendar. Select a Pre-Conference time at least 1 day prior to the observation date.

Once you have selected the dates you will receive an email that will have the pre-conference questions about your lesson.

I encourage you to take this as an opportunity to try something new — I’d much rather help you work through a fresh strategy or instructional approach than watch something you’ve already perfected.

I’d like to have all observations completed this semester, so please keep that in mind when choosing your date.

Pre-Conference Questions

Please take some time and answer the following questions as they relate to the lesson you will be teaching for your observation. It is not necessary to answer every question or to write a book. We will discuss this at our pre-conference.

What objectives will be addressed in the lesson?

What do you expect the students to know and be able to do afterthe lesson?

Where is this lesson in the context of your unit plan?

What are the prerequisite skills that the students have to know inorder to be successful in this lesson?

Briefly describe the varied learning needs of students in thisclass, including those with disabilities and English Language Learners, and howyou plan and prepare to meet their needs.

How will you differentiate your instruction in order to address avariety of learning styles?

Are there any particular grouping structures in place? If so, how will you hold students accountable for group work?

How will you assess whether or not students met the objectives forthe lesson?

Is there anything in particular you want me to be observing withregard to your areas of reinforcement and refinement?

What are your plans for lesson closure and reflection?

Are there any other special circumstances that I should be awareof before the announced observation?
