One studnet from every public high school students from across Hawaiʻi are eligible to serve as ambassadors of Hawaiʻi on a Sister-State Study Tour to one of three destinations:
- Ilocos Norte & Ilocos Sur (Philippines)
- Okinawa (Japan)
- Jeju Island (Korea)
Cost: $500 or less. Scholarships are generously provided by the State of Hawaiʻi in partnership with the East-West Center.
All three tours will take place during Spring Break and the following week (March 13–24, 2027). Selected students will be assigned to one destination, so they must be open to traveling to any of the three.
Charter, private, and independent school students are not eligible for this program but may apply to PAAC's Summer Study Tours to Korea.
Who can submit this recommendation
Each applicant has asked you — a teacher, school counselor, coach, club advisor, employer, or mentor/community leader — to speak to their character, responsibility, leadership potential, and readiness for this program. This form is for non-relative adults in a school, work, or mentorship role; it is not for family friends, relatives, or fellow students.
