  • Residencies are nine-month paid positions offering hands-on experience, mentorship from leading professionals, and exposure to the workflows that drive high-level documentary production. Residents join thoughtfully assembled teams across post production, contributing to active projects aligned with their chosen track.

  • Archival Research + Producing: for individuals with an interest in research, organization, and licensing of archival materials used in production.

  • Color: for artists with an interest in cinematography, color theory, and the impact of color temperature on storytelling.

  • Editorial: for assistant editors, associate editors and editors interested in the collaborative nature that the editorial process presents in documentary filmmaking.

  • Post Producing for Documentary: for early-career producers looking to deepen their skills in editorial and finishing, while gaining insight into the career path toward becoming a post supervisor.

  • Sound Post: for creatives with developing skills in sound editing, design, or mixing, and a passion to shape storytelling through sound.

  • Application & Submission

  • You agree to carefully review the Submission Release which includes all eligibility requirements and terms and conditions of applying for the Experience Residencies. Remember that you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, eligible for employment in the United States, and physically based in the United States, in order to be eligible for the program. You agree to submit a complete and accurate application through the Experience website. Industry Standard aims to place a Resident in each of the offered disciplines, however, this is not guaranteed.

  • By checking the box below, I acknowledge the following Program Expectations: While this program requires an expected commitment of 40 hours per week, Residents are employed on an at-will basis and employment may be terminated by Resident or Program at any time with or without notice. All Residents agree to commit to attend and participate in all sessions; meet all program deadlines; participate in the program in a professional manner in accordance with Industry Standard and Industry Partner policies. Participants must be available to work full time during regular business hours in the time zone of the relevant Industry Partner where the Resident is carrying out their work experience.
