Thank you for your interest in joining the Sustainable Healthcare Leadership Institute!

The Sustainable Healthcare Leadership Institute is a year-long fellowship program designed to equip mid-career healthcare professionals with the technical knowledge, leadership skills, and peer network to lead efforts within their healthcare organizations to improve sustainability while aligning with quality improvement, cost savings, and social accountability. We encourage you to use the application to not only highlight the strengths and perspectives you’ll contribute to the program but also to identify the areas of knowledge and skills you wish to enhance throughout this journey.

The Institute is designed for mid-career professionals working across the healthcare ecosystem, including:

Health systems and care delivery organizations: clinicians, pharmacists, quality and safety leaders, health system managers and directors, sustainability officers, facilities leaders, supply chain and procurement professionals, population health leaders. 

Healthcare industry partners: professionals from MedTech, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health technology, insurance, pharmacy, consulting, and healthcare services who are working to align products, operations, procurement, and business strategy with a lower-carbon, more sustainable healthcare future.

Ideal applicants are individuals who have institutional support, leadership potential, and a desire to implement or strengthen a sustainability initiative within their organization.

Sponsorship is a core component of the program. 

Please share the letter of institutional support with a direct supervisor and/or a departmental (or higher) leader. Once they have completed the form, you will automatically receive a copy to your email. Please upload a pdf of that copy of the form information below.

If you don't receive a copy, you may record the name and email of your supervisor so that we can match the letter to your application.

The program fee is on a sliding scale.

• Non-for profit hospitals and health systems— $2000
• For profit hospitals and health systems — $3000
• Industry participants — $5000
• Strategic Industry Partner — $15,000
• Premier Industry Sponsor — $40,000

This includes your meals for the retreat but excludes travel expenses and lodging to the retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico (Early March 2027).

Through generous support from The Commonwealth Fund, the Institute can offer scholarships to candidates working in safety-net hospitals and federally qualified health centers.
