Faribault's hospital is at risk of being bought. Allina Health has agreed to be taken over by Sutter Health, a much larger corporation based in California. If it goes through, Faribault's hospital will answer to executives in Sacramento. Research on hospital mergers finds they often raise prices and thin out local services. Sutter Health has paid hundreds of millions of dollars to settle claims that it used its market power to drive up the cost of care. The Minnesota Attorney General is deciding whether to let this deal proceed or to challenge it in court. What he decides depends on what our community puts on the record. We need to provide that public record. Take a few minutes to tell us what this hospital means to you and what you stand to lose. Every field is optional. Share what applies to you and what you are comfortable sharing.
