The American Advertising Foundation will award a $10,000 scholarship to a worthy college sophomore or junior pursuing an undergraduate degree in advertising, communications, media, interactive marketing, journalism, commercial art, public relations or related fields.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must attend an accredited college or university.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate member (Sophomore or Junior) who has completed at least Freshman year of college.
- Students must be majoring or minoring in:
- Advertising
- Marketing
- Digital / Commercial Art
- Photography
- Communications
Public Relations
- Journalism
- Radio/Television/Film
- Applicant must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher in their field of study.
Required Submission Materials
The materials outlined below must be submitted online as one combined PDF.
- Students must obtain a letter of recommendation from at least one, but not more than three faculty members in their major.
- Applicants must include a one-page, double-spaced essay on their reasons for wanting to be a part of the Advertising, Media, or Marketing industry.
- Students should submit two to five samples of work accomplished in their chosen courses of study. These may include writing samples, design, photography, illustration, video, audio, musical composition, marketing recommendations or positioning and strategy documents for creative, media, or promotion.
- All students must provide proof of academic standing when submitting their application by sending an official electronic transcript. You may request an official electronic version of your transcript from your school website.
Application Process
- Complete the Online Application Form. No other form will be accepted.
- Complete the essay, obtain letters of recommendation and prepare your presentation of these materials.
- Obtain an official copy of your current college/university transcript and include it along with other submission materials.
- Submit all materials electronically before the published deadline.
Selection Criteria
Selection will be made on a scoring system of the above defined application process including how well instructions were followed, the inclusion of all required components and the overall presentation of your materials.
Deadline
Application and all materials must be received no later than March 9, 2027, at 11:59 pm ET.
Notification and Receipt of Funds
- Recipient will be announced / confirmed via email.
- Recipient will be awarded registration and travel accommodations to ADMERICA, AAF's national conference.
- Payment of the scholarship money will be to the Financial Aid office of the Recipient’s college or university.
