The Margaret Byrd Rawson Institute (MBRI) offers Literacy Discovery Sessions to help parents better understand their child’s foundational literacy skills.
During the session, your child may participate in informal activities involving areas such as letter naming, letter sounds, alphabet writing, handwriting, spelling, and other foundational literacy skills.
The purpose of the Literacy Discovery Session is to provide parents with informal educational information and observations that may help them better understand their child’s current literacy skills and identify areas they may wish to discuss further with their child’s school or other qualified professionals.
The Literacy Discovery Session is not a formal educational, psychological, medical, speech-language, or diagnostic evaluation.
MBRI does not diagnose dyslexia, learning disabilities, or any other educational, developmental, psychological, or medical condition through this session.
MBRI is not providing medical, psychological, legal, or individualized educational advice.
The activities and observations provided during the session are not intended to replace a formal evaluation or assessment conducted by a school or other qualified professional.
Information gathered during the session is intended to be shared with me as the parent/guardian. I may choose to share this information with my child’s school or other qualified professionals for further discussion or evaluation.
Participation in a Literacy Discovery Session does not establish a professional, clinical, therapeutic, or school relationship between MBRI and my child or family.
Parents / guardians must attend, observe, and remain with their child at all times.
