Teen Council 2026-2027 Application
The San Diego Museum of Art's Teen Council offers high school students the opportunity to take on a collaborative role at the Museum and lend their voices to Community Engagement programs. Members work alongside Museum Community Engagement staff and their peers to share ideas, contribute to program development, and assist in the planning and development of Young Art 2027: Senses, the Museum's biennial youth exhibition.
Meetings are held monthly via Zoom with several in-person opportunities throughout the year. Teen Council meets on select Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m. An annual calendar will be provided.
Teen Council 2026-2027 begins in October 2026 and continues through the end of June 2027.
Space is limited to 12 participants.
How to Apply
To be considered for Teen Council:
- Complete the application form below.
- Submit the completed application by October 1, 2026.
- If selected, attend the first Teen Council meeting on October 14, 2026.
Selected applicants will receive an invitation by email and a required waiver for participation.
Teen Council Requirements
To apply, students must:
1. Be a current 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student during the 2026-2027 school year.
2. Submit a completed application by October 1, 2026.
3. Be willing to follow the guidelines and expectations of the program.
4. Be interested in collaborating with peers by sharing ideas, participating in discussions, providing feedback, researching artists and artworks, and contributing to the planning and development of Young Art 2027: Senses and other Community Engagement initiatives.
5. Plan to attend at least 70% of monthly Zoom meetings to maintain membership.
Optional in-person events and Museum activities will be available throughout the year.
