  • RFYO Tuition and Scholarships

Need-based Scholarships make it possible for all students to take part in the RFYO. No students are ever turned away. Regular RFYO tuition is $725 for the school year. Early tuition is $650. To qualify for the early tuition rate, register by August 15 and make a tuition payment of any amount (in full, half, or installment) by August 15th. Everyone is welcome to pay in installments and apply for need-based scholarship. Orchestra tuition covers all RFYO rehearsals and concerts. It is separate from weekly lessons costs.
  • Weekly Private Lessons and Scholarships

Weekly private lessons are required for all string players in the RFYO. A limited number of need-based scholarships are also available to cover all or part of the cost of lessons. In orchestra students learn how to play together, but most learning of how to play the instrument happens in lessons and in practicing at home. For all other students (wind, brass, and percussion players) private lessons and participation in your school music programs are strongly encouraged. If you need help finding a private teacher, please let us know and we will help connect you with a teacher. Private lessons without financial aid cost on average $45 for 30 minute lessons and $68 for 45 minutes. For example, some scholarship students pay $25 per lesson to their lesson teacher and receive a scholarship of $20 per lesson.

  • Financial need - commitment to RFYO and lessons

Because financial assistance is an important and significant investment for us as a nonprofit organization and community program, students who receive lesson and/or tuition scholarships are required to commit to weekly lessons and full participation in RFYO. This includes preparing their music for rehearsals, being on time, taking part in all required concerts and practicing at home - taking full advantage of the opportunity that is being provided through the RFYO.
  • RFYO TUITION and Individual lesson cost

Without financial assistance RFYO tuition is $725 for the school year. Early tuition is $650 (register by August 15) Everyone is welcome to pay in installments and apply for need-based scholarship. This cost is separate from the weekly lesson cost. For example, a student might qualify for a scholarship that lowers the tuition cost to $350 for the school year and subsidizes the lesson cost so that it is $15-20 per lesson. Private lessons without financial aid cost $45 for 30 minute lessons or $68 for 45 minutes. Students taking weekly lessons have an average of 25 lessons per school year, which is mostly weekly excluding holiday weeks, following the school calendar. Tuition is paid directly to RFYO. Lesson payments are made directly to your private teacher.
