  • CONSIDERATIONS — READ BEFORE QUOTING

BASEBOARDS / FLOOR TRIM: Ask how tall their baseboards are. We want to mount the pet door directly above the baseboard. If we cannot, we either cut down into the trim or add framing behind the pet door frame so it integrates cleanly. Both mean more labor and material. Small dogs with tall baseboards are the case most likely to require this. If framing is needed, ask two things: (1) Do they have leftover baseboard material we can reuse for the frame? If not, quote the extra material cost. (2) Do they have matching paint? If not, either they paint it themselves or we quote the extra cost to paint it. Check with the contractor for current pricing, or quote the average from past jobs.

ELECTRICAL: Many of our contractors handle electrical on the spot. If the job needs extensive electrical work, the customer hires their own electrician to complete it and we return afterward to finish the pet door install. Set that expectation on the call so the timeline is not a surprise.
