5. Health and Safety
Members are required to adhere to all health and safety protocols as directed by the club.
This includes following guidelines related to hygiene and wearing appropriate attire.
SPARRING POLICY
Sparring is not mandatory. You will never be required or pressured to spar. Your coach will only invite you when they believe you are ready, and you can decline at any time without explanation.
If you choose to spar, the following applies:
A Level 2 England Boxing-qualified coach must be present and supervising at all times
Headguard, gumshield, hand wraps, and appropriate gloves must be worn.
Coaches can stop sparring at any time if they deem it unsafe or uncontrolled
Boxing is a contact sport — sparring carries risk of head injury, concussion, cuts, and bruising
Tell the coach immediately if you feel dizzy, nauseous, confused, or have blurred vision
Do not spar if unwell, fatigued, or injured without coach approval
If concussion is suspected, you will be removed from the session and must not train or spar until medically cleared (minimum 28 days, in line with England Boxing guidance)
