Leadership position: AHEPPP Awards Committee Chair
Reports to: AHEPPP Board of Directors and Executive Director
Length of term: October 2026 - December 2027
Time commitment: 2-5 hours per week, varies
Position description: The AHEPPP Awards Committee Chair provides leadership and strategic direction for the Family Engagement in Higher Education Awards. Leading a team of volunteers, the Chair ensures the success of awards from start to finish by maintaining that all aspects of the awards process align with AHEPPP’s mission, vision, and values as the premier association for family engagement at the collegiate level.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for the Awards Committee leadership team
- Schedule and host Awards Committee meetings
- Attend the 2026 National Conference in Palm Springs, CA to observe the awards process and prepare for the 2027 program
- Collaborate with the Communications Chair to develop a promotions and recognition plan
- Develop and manage a timeline for nominations, selection, and announcements
- Oversee nomination collection, review, and recipient selection processes
- Liaise with the 2027 Conference Planning Committee to coordinate award presentations
- Provide guidance and support to Awards Committee members throughout the year
Qualifications:
- Current AHEPPP member with 3+ years of experience engaging families at the collegiate level (any campus department is eligible)
- Strong organizational, assessment, and marketing skills
- Strong relationship-builder who communicates clearly and works well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Able to attend both the 2026 and 2027 National Conferences
- Previous experience with the AHEPPP Awards Committee or similar recognition programs preferred
