OFFICIAL RULES AND OBLIGATIONS FOR THE
1. Applications for Chelan County Fair Ambassador shall be distributed, under the direction of the Ambassador Committee, to all high schools in Chelan County and to the County Extension Office. Applications are also available at the Chelan County Fair Office.
2. The top-qualified applicant will be selected to represent the Chelan County Fair as the Ambassador.
3. A selection committee will select the top four candidates and those candidates will be interviewed by the selection committee. The selected Ambassador will be announced in December 2026
4. Applicants must reside within the boundaries of a Chelan County school district and attend school in Chelan County. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and be at least 16 years of age or entering their junior year of high school. Applicants must never been married, and are not planning to marry before October of the current year.
5. Ambassador appearances shall be limited to Chelan County and the Greater Wenatchee Valley area unless prior approval is granted by the Chelan County Fair Board.
6. Clothing for appearances will be provided by the Chelan County Fair Board.
7. Members of the Chelan County Fair Board or their designated representatives shall serve as chaperones for the Ambassador at official appearances. The Ambassador Committee will be responsible for coordinating appearances and chaperones for appearances.
8. To remain eligible for the $1,000 scholarship, the Ambassador must attend at least 80% of all scheduled Ambassador activities, unless excused by the Ambassador Committee (see Rule 11 for details). The Ambassador is expected to attend all scheduled functions, arrive on time, and notify the Ambassador Committee as far in advance as possible if they are unable to attend a scheduled activity.
9. The Ambassador will be expected to participate in fundraising activities that support the Ambassador Expense Fund. State Fair Commission rules prohibit the use of Fair funds for Ambassador expenses.
10. The Ambassador shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Chelan County Fair Board during their term and is expected to attend monthly Board meetings to report on activities and appearances.
11. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the Ambassador. A scholarship certificate will be presented at the October Chelan County Fair Board meeting. One-half of the scholarship ($500) will be awarded upon proof of acceptance and enrollment in a post-secondary educational program. The remaining $500 will be awarded upon successful completion of the first year of study with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, or upon completion of a certificate program with proof of continued enrollment in an approved educational program. Scholarship funds must be claimed within five years of high school graduation or will be forfeited.
12. The Ambassador may be asked to assist with the distribution of Exhibitor Guides and the placement of promotional materials throughout the community.
13. The Ambassador will assist with Fair activities and events as requested by the Ambassador Committee.
